It has a small fishing pond, with RV sites on either side, as well as sites near the Red River. This RV park also has some tent sites. It is a pretty well maintained RV park. There is a free shuttle service from the park to Red River that runs until 10pm at night. Sites are pretty close together so plan on getting to know your neighbors. They also charge an extra $5 if you run your ac, so factor that into the price if you are visiting during the summer months...it can get warm enough you'll want to run your ac. The Roadrunner RV resort is nicer, but a few bucks more. If you factor in the extra charge for ac, it's not that much more than River Ranch. surferlou Thu, 31 Jul 2014 15:20:49 -0400 http://www.irv2.com/campgrounds/showproduct.php?product=1632

by: surferlou

Description: The Turquoise Trail Campground is nestled in the cool forests of the Sandia Mountains only 15 minutes from Albuquerque. The campground is located on the beautiful Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway (NM Highway 14), the scenic route between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Try to get a spot near the perimeter of the park, and not the cluster of pull through spots in the middle. Those spots are full of weeds and there seems to be a sewer issue. Other than that, the park is quiet. There is a tent camping area that is nicer than most tent spots I've seen at other RV parks. surferlou Wed, 02 Jul 2014 18:42:47 -0400 Lavaland RV Park http://www.irv2.com/campgrounds/showproduct.php?product=1609

by: Cavanaugh

Description: Close to Interstate 40 - easy access on and off the highway. pull-throughs with shade trees. The staff are friendly, the place kept clean and neat. You're greeted at registration and offered a fresh cookie. You helped to the site and breakfast is free in the morning.Located south of Interstate 40 near Grants. Mostly pull through sites. All in all, an unexpected pleasure to stay at this KOA. The sites are clean with 30 or 50 amp service. In the summer the have a great swimming pool and every evening they have a cookout that you can particpate in for a small fee. It is close to fuel and restaurants. I highly recommend this campground. $35. Can't speak to amenities because we were off the CG most of the time, but biggest con is about 7 miles of rock/dirt road to get to the CG. As suggested, we disconnected our toad and drove it in front to keep the dust level down. MH and car were caked with dust by the time we arrived. Recommend if you don't mind long, dusty trip to feel you are in the desolate wild west. We paid about $12.50/day including wifi with PA. sunnydays Sun, 25 May 2008 11:47:23 -0400 Alamogordo, NM http://www.irv2.com/campgrounds/showproduct.php?product=586

by: sunnydays

Description: Clean, well-run, small and personalized campground alongside Highway 54 which runs through the center of Alamogordo. The host and wife greeted us right away as we pulled in, took us to our campsite and put in extra effort to make sure we were comfortably settled and had our questions answered. Owner lent us a tall ladder to install awning lights. Sites are gravel and dirt with lovely view across the road of the Sacramento Mtns. and Sierra Blanca (12,000 feet elevation), but park has a row of storage units alongside 54 that obscure part of the view. The park is more of a place to stay while sightseeing, but there's a lot of sightseeing. No pool or meeting room, but one can fish in a small pond on the property. Free WIFI. We extended our stay from 2 to 4 days because the location was central to see White Sands Monument, White Sands Missile Range, Cloudcroft, Valley of Fires, and the Three Rivers Petroglyph Nat'l site. We also went to a space museum and retired navy hubby was thrilled to see the stealth aircraft at Holloman AFB and shop at the BPX. Would love to revisit Alamogordo and would stay with our gracious hosts again. Stayed in a MH. Cost: $13/nite plus tax with PA. Did not get a pic of CG - just the view across the road. sunnydays Sat, 24 May 2008 21:13:45 -0400 Santa Rosa http://www.irv2.com/campgrounds/showproduct.php?product=511

by: holmesaw

Description: I-40 exit 277 100 sites 30-50 amp, water, sewer, wi-fi, cable, laundry, groceries, rv supplies 69 pull-thrus holmesaw Tue, 08 Jan 2008 01:22:16 -0500 Logan, NM http://www.irv2.com/campgrounds/showproduct.php?product=485

by: Tom and Patty

Description: Paved interior roads and campsites, many are pull throughs. We love the wide open spaces with mountain landscapes and this park offers it in spades. The park is a little over a year old and was taken over by new owners and refreshed with new office and landscaping. They have a large clubhouse on the front burner and hope to complete it in '08. Each lot is 1/4 acre and our space had a small pond and wetland area right beside us. We listened to lullabies and put to sleep at night by bass bull frogs and awakened by a flock of migrating Willets arriving for a rest stop. Portal, AZ., the gateway to the Chiricahua Mtns. is 8 miles away. Our daily rate including the Escapee discount was $18. Rusty's RV Ranch was by far the best value of any RV park we stayed during in our 6 week journey through NM, AZ, UT, and CO. I would expect the best time to visit the area is late March through May and Sept thru Nov.but most anytime will be good.
