All sites are back-in and are riverfront. All sites are full hook-up including 50amp. Sites are a little too close for our taste but not overly so. Nice tree shade in the afternoons. Their cable is limited to four major network channels. Wi-Fi is available but spotty as is cell service. Restrooms were clean but there is not laundry on site. Very quiet at night. We would stay here again. Cable is available but a very limited number of channels. Very well kept campground. Friendly staff. Some road noise from I-94 but no bad on the sites at rear of campground. We stayed here for two weeks while awaiting truck repairs. Daily rate for full hookup is $35 less 10% Good Sam. Weekly rate is $175. About three miles away from I-10 for low traffic noise. However, large number of workers live in the park who leave for work starting around 5 a.m. During the night there were some strange smells coming (we guess) from the industrial area south of the park. Name of the town is Sulphur which may be an indication. A good number of 'permanents' but a few sites are reserved for overnighters (two nights for us). Gravel sites. Free wi-fi but no cable. Our only problem was the second night when voltage repeatedly exceeded 132 volts, causing our EMS system to cut power to the rig. Finally had to unplug the rig for the night. Park has dirt sites and was somewhat worn at the time of our visit (Sept 09). Traffic noise was not bad, but this park (as well as other nearby parks) are on the approach to the airport in Amarillo. Jets are just a few hundred feet overhead at this park. Fortunately, air traffic is light at night but starts around 5 a.m. Be prepared to get up early. Some sites can be very tight for larger RVs. We had reservations and were glad we did in order to get a spot we could fit into. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There was a bluegrass jam during one night of our stay that was very enjoyable. The campground has limited wi-fi (within about 500 ft of the office). No cable and lots of trees that may interfere with roof top satellite reception. In a previous visit a few years ago on a 30 amp site we experienced low voltage problems. This time they put us on an upgraded 50 amp site and we had no problems. Latest visit was in Aug 08. The place is a mix of seasonal and short term campers. The short term sites are somewhat separate from the permanents providing more of a campground than trailer park experience. Staff was very friendly and location is accessible to most local conveniences but still very quiet at night. Prices were $36-42 in Aug 08. We stayed here for three nights to attend a family event. We stayed on one of several pull-thru sites that were water and electric (50 amp) only. Sewer dump site is on the way out but located on a slope making the dump task difficult. Most other sites in the campground seemed to be occupied by semi-permanents. Very pretty lake with a picturesque chapel on the far side. NOTE: When we visited in Aug 2008, a bridge was closed on US21 which didn't look like it would reopen anytime soon. Directions in CG directories recommend using exit 116 off of I-77. However, until the bridge is fixed, access can only be made by getting off at exit 119 and going south on US21 before making the turn onto the road that eventually (3 miles) leads to the campground. Somewhat hilly with some sharp turns within the campground but navigatable with our 37' 5th wheel. At the time of our visit (Aug 08), restrooms and showers had been newly built but were unusable because the building wasn't connected to the sewer system. VERY IMPORTANT: At this writing (Sep 08), the campground's location shown on the Recreation.gov map is incorrect. The correct location is on the northside of the lake accessible from US421. The map on the website shows the campground on the south side of the lake off of SR268. We learned about the map error the hard way. The written directions to the campground are correct. We notified recreation.gov of the error in Sept 08. Hope they fix it so other newbie visitors don't make the same error. Half Dimes Wed, 03 Sep 2008 20:03:04 -0400
