We had to make last minute change vacation plans, on the road from Grand Canyon. KOA Needles had a 50A site available online, so we booked via the iPhone. Glad we got the 50A spot, as it was 110 outside. Wifi was slow, but the pool was very inviting. The lady at the desk was able to pull up our reservation quickly, with the email confirmation number. We were in our spot, plugged in and cooling off, inside of 10 minutes from when we roll up. The location is right on the old Route 66, which was far enough from the Interstate to be silent for sleeping.

This campground started out as a very economical stopping point on our way to Florida. It was a Passport America Park with reasonable rates. Maybe ownership has changed with the resulting massive increase in price. I will go on down the road and find a more economical alternative.

We looked forward to this easy going, quiet, well maintained campground. We overnighted here often - after 6pm just put your $25 fee in an envelope and drive to an open spot. Price increased to $30 for a couple years, but now at $45 we will just move on.

Pick your site wisely. As close to the beach as you can get is best. Near the trash collection site and racoons will pester you. We've stayed here 4 times, always spring or fall seasons. Beach is great to walk and explore. Beaufort is a very nice historic town to tour/shop - we like Beaufort better than Charleston. Also, there is a nice swamp walk in Port Royal.

We spent 3 nights here on our recent trip. Plenty of shade and sites were spotless. Honestly can not remember cable tv or wifi but we were there to explore the area spent little time at the camp ground. We would definitely stay again.

http://mitchellparkandresort.com/ This park has been having adults only country dance weekends with free beer, wine and soda. The one I attended in September had an excellent country band and the large dance floor had plenty of room. This spring they will have their Gospel and Bluegrass weekend.
