Description: Located about 8 miles from Winterplace Ski Resort, right off I-77, this is a great campground my wife and I found this ski season. It's off exit 20 on I-77 just north of Princeton. If you're looking at a place to escape after snow skiing all day or snow tubing, this is the place for you. We loved it. As you can see from the pictures, we were the only campers there this weekend because of all the snow. No major hills though and very nice pull through site. It was only $15 a night. I think it's around $24 during regular season. All though everything was covered in snow, it's seems like a great campground tucked away in the mountains of WV. As you can see, nice streams surround the park. They have built a huge new play ground at the entrance. We plan on a return visit when it warms a little.

Camp Creek State Park was formed from Camp Creek State Forest in 1987, when a tract of approximately 550 acres was set aside to create this recreation area. Still adjacent to the park lies Camp Creek State Forest. Consisting of nearly 5,300 acres of forest land this property is managed to demonstrate sound forest management principles through the concept of multiple-use. A hunter will find many species of game including deer, native wild turkey, ruffed grouse and a variety of small game. Camp Creek, from which these areas take their name, is one of the best stocked trout streams in the state and can offer hours of fishing enjoyment.

The park is situated just two miles off Interstate 77 at exit 20, Camp Creek State Park is an oasis for the vacationer. Whether you choose the park as a vacation site or a stop over on the way to another destination, rest assured you will find exactly what you are looking for. Surrounded by the breathtaking mountains of southern West Virginia, Camp Creek offers a chance to enjoy what state parks are all about.

Pros: Quiet, Surrounded by Mountain, Close to Winterplace
Cons: None that we saw.

This was a great campground located right off I-77 just north of Princeton that my wife and I found after a day of snow skiing at Winterplace Ski Resort. Only 8 miles away. Very private. We plan on returning in the summer. $15 a night in the off season.
