Description: Large (252 sites) campground adjacent to the Maumee Bay of Lake Erie. The campground is part of an expansive park resort that includes a lodge with hotel rooms, deluxe cottages, marina with access to Lake Erie & 18-hole golf course.

Campsites are electric only (safe water available throughout the park to fill fresh tanks), have level & paved parking pads, are very spacious with nice privacy between sites & contain the standard picnic table & fire ring. Since the campground is adjacent to the bay & set in a marshy area, the sites are open rather than shady, although some sites do have trees nearby which provided limited shade during different times of day. There are a few rent-a-camp sites & 1 yurt for rent. The campground roads are wide & easy to maneuver with a big rig.

The restrooms/showerhouses were clean & bright. The dumpstation was kind of tight because the loop was fairly small & allowed for 2 rv's with one going in each direction, but as long as you waited on the camp road as signage tells you to do, it is maneuverable. I was surprised the park supplied the dump hose rather than using your own.

There are miles & miles of trails for biking/walking & a boardwalk that meanders through the marshes & swampland with informational signs & an observation tower. The park has bikes for rent, horseshoe pits, a basketball/volleyball courts, playgrounds, an ampitheater, a nature center & ponds for fishing. There are 2 huge, clean beaches on the lakefront with a larger ampitheater & a smaller, inland lake for canoeing/kayaking or sailboating.

For a fun place to eat, drive 20 minutes into Toledo & have a bite at Tony Packo's. View all the celebrity signed "hot dog buns" displayed on the restaurant walls.

Overall, Maumee Bay is one of Ohio's best state parks with all the ammenities & activities expected of a resort park located on a lake shore.

Pros: Spacious sites with good privacy, big-rig friendly, access to Lake Erie & resort lodge ammenities
Cons: Little shade, no fhu sites, 2-night minimum on weekends (3-night on holiday weekends)

Price paid is for a 50a, electric-only, back-in site on a weekend. More pictures can be found in my albums by clicking on the link in my signature.

Pros: Large level sites, wildlife
Cons: no water hook-up

It has large sites, some seperated by large plant growth for privacy. Driving in we spotted deer walking thru the forest. Also saw an eagle while setting up. First morning we found an area behind our motorhome where some deer had slept. Nice paved trails to the beach.
