Description: GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude):

This is an easy off an on for I-40 in Ozark. Take Exit 37 and follow the signs. The park is about 4.5 miles from the I-40 exit. If it is peak season and the weekend you will probably need to make reservations.

There are approximately 60 sites with 50 Amp electricity, water hookups and dump station. Pets are allowed (on leash). Cost is $18 20$ per night.

The park borders Ozark Lake. It is actually a wider section of the Arkansas River with a lock and dam located at the entrance of the park.

The park road runs along the shoreline of the lake with campsites on either side of the road. The pull-ins are long with ample room for big rigs and toad parking. There are lots of big pine and oak trees providing abundant shade for hotter days. You can walk right to the waters edge down a gentle sloped bank. There is also 4 or 5 rock jetties built into the water that you can fish from. You can also set in your chair, relax and watch the river traffic.

There is a newer section of the park that does not show up on the website or on Google satellite photos. The newer section does not have shade trees and is more difficult to walk down to the shore as it is cover with erosion protection rocks along with a steep bank.

There is an active rail road on the other side of the lake so you will see and hear the trains across the lake.

I have more photos posted under my photo albums.

Pros: On the river (like a small lake), price
Cons: bathroom at far end.

Aux Arc (they pronounce it Ozark...naturally) is a Corp of Engineers park and typical for them. Half the spots are right on the water...back ins and they share a driveway with your neighbor...but not too close. Great entertainment watching the barges come and go. The train track on the other side was busyyyy...I think half of Ark cargo is carried by this track. Noise didn't bother us, though. We explored and found lots of interesting stuff to do...there is an overlook on the other side that has a great hiking trail (lots of steps though). The overlook is worth the drive and you can see the lock between Lake Dardanelle and Ozark Lake. We went to several of the wineries, a great barbque place (Rivertown) and also went to the Wal-mart. Hard to hate $10 a night. We used recreation.gov for reservations.
