Pros:

Large, spacious sites, all paved, mostly shaded by beautiful hardwood trees, well maintained, a few pull-throughs, many sites have sewage,
|
Cons:
|
Very near Columbus AFB, so you have jets flying overhead during the day.

This is the first campground we stayed at when we bought our first RV in 2001. We haven't found another campground that will compare with it, unless you go to a high-class RV Resort. Since it is a COE park, we can use our Golden Age Passport for a 50% discount. With the regular price of the sites only 16.00 to 20.00, that's economical camping!

We have stayed at Dewayne Hayes several times in the past few years. It is such a nice campground! The hosts have always been great. There is ice available at the front check-in, and a basic gas station type store not far. You are also very close to Columbus, MS for any shopping, eating out, movies, etc. you need to do. Bishop RV is close with a decent camp store. Aberdeen RV is about 20-30 miles away up Hwy 45 with Jayco stuff and a good camp store as well.
The park is very well maintained. The splash pad and day use areas are a short walk from the campsites as well. In 2019 the splash pad was closed for remodel but maybe by spring of 2020 it will be back in working order. You are on the river, but not too many sites have water views due to the trees. There are several fishing piers though. Sites 1 and 2 are the only reservable sewer sites. Site 1 is very nice with good shade and decent privacy from the road due to trees. Site 2 is a spur from it and good for shorter rigs. The way it is situated, your outside areas look into the trees behind the site, not into Site 1.
I would recommend reserving from www.recreation.gov and searching for Dewayne Hayes.
