Pros: Quiet, Friendly, Clean
Cons: Maybe not "kid" friendly?

Even though we are a young couple, we enjoy QUIET camping without a bunch of screaming kids all over. If you're looking for the same, this is a great spot. This park is no frills but has nice sites, a lake, boat launch, very nice, clean bathrooms, very friendly workers and seasonal residents. There's no playground but there is a soccer field, baseball field, tennis courts, shuffleboard, basketball courts... (you know, the activities kids USE to do). Dirt roads, grass lots. Although they don't monitor their enterence, who's coming and going and really no security (because it is a city park), you would see police regularly patrolling AND the bathrooms had a combination to get in (so not everyone could use them). When we arrived we found the electricity box pretty far from our trailer. Our cord would not reach. The seasonal resident next to us went to the office and asked for help (for us). The park manager came over, accessed the issue, then drove over to one of the seasonal's lots and borrowed an extension cord for us to use for the weekend. We were very impressed by this! Really a great place to just relax.

Pros: quiet
Cons: none

This is a small quiet, very friendly campground over looking Hart Lake. Many seasonals, but very nice. Most of the sites are very narrow and not very shaded, but we love this campground because of the location. It is at the beginning of the Hart/Montague bike trail and is a short walk down the hill into historic Hart. There is fishing on Hart Lake with a boat ramp. It is also close to Silver Lake. The managers are awesome and couldn't be more helpful. There is security after dark and the restrooms are locked (you are given a code to open door) at night, which was nice. Great new restrooms. Will definitely return.

Pros: Layed Back, Great Staff,
Cons: Small gets a little crowded on weekends

I discovered John Gurney Park by happin chance. The wife and I fell in love with this campground after our first visit. It has an oldtimey flavor but it's well kept by a super nice staff. I has a plethora of activities to keep you occupied should you choose to indulge. Biking , Fishing, Hiking , Shuffleboard, Horseshoes, ect.
John Gurney Park sits on the north side of Hart, Mi. I calll it the Gateway to Pentwater and Silver Lake which are only a few minutes away, without the busy touristy hoopla of the fore mentioned spots. The city of Hart is a wonderful Northern town within walking distance from the Park(4 blocks) with some great restaurants should you feel like not cooking.
The campground gets a little busy on the weekends so it's best to check the website for openings and reservations. So once you try it you'll want to come back. Just don't tell to many folks (wink) keep it our secret.
