The draw here is the spectacular view. If you come with a big rig, I hope you're very confident in your driving skills as the entrance road is steep, narrow and very winding. All interior roads are gravel and there's only about 8 sites suitable for a big rig, a few more for smaller RVs. They also rent Yurts and Rvs and they have a number of tent sites. The premium RV sites are very expensive given the normal amenities you'd expect for $60 per night, but you are right on the edge of the bluff looking out over the surrounding mountains. The staff has been very nice and of course there is a LOT to see and do in the Asheville NC area.

Steep, narrow and winding gravel access road with two way traffic

Beautiful view, nice people working there (well, with one possible exception), but the access road will scare off a lot of big rig drivers.

I called ahead and asked if I could pull my toad all the way to the camp site. They said yes. Well I got stuck on the last curve up, The rain had washed out the corner. I unhooked the toad and got another head start. They told me everyone unhooks their toad at the entrance. I will from now on. I drove a old buffalo conversion there. I have a country coach now. Same length, But shorter wheel base. Very clean, Helpful staff. Will go again. Also hard to turn around if you are at the end where I was. Site 17

We stayed here over the Labor Day weekend . What a nice campground and the view is great from the top also. We had deluxe site . Couldn't get the premium ones. They stay booked and are hard to get. For reason to be understood if you stay here. They entire staff is very nice. They do take pride in their small park . The Internet was OK . Can't say what the cable was like. We didn't use it. Out Tailgate dish did pick up one SAT so we got a few channels plus off air had a few too. Our site was old , but level, clean with a good amount of shade with a ton of space between us and neighbors. The water was fine and power too. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Travel Trailer.
The Asheville area has a ton of places to eat and drink. Lots of Arts and of course the Biltmore House Estates. If you haven't seen America's only true castle ( TYCOON STYLE ) you are missing out. It's a one of a kind for sure.

access road condition

We stayed here for 3 nights in late April. We were on site 12 (deluxe RV). Premium sites were booked out. Site was wooded with a large gravel pad and full hook-ups. Good space to the neighbors. We were in a 35ft gas coach and there was two 40ft DPs and a couple of large 5th wheels. Not knowing what to expect, we unhooked the toad well before getting to the campground entrance. Could have unhooked at the bottom of the entrance. The park is adamant not to show up before 2pm since they need to get all departing RVs down the hill before anyone new arrives. The access road is gravel, washed out in some areas and not very level. Getting up was manageable (lots of creaking going on), but improving this road would be a good investment.
Once at the top, this is a great location. I would pay the extra for a premium site, but there is a nice little "park" with chairs and picnic tables to enjoy the view for those that did not get a premium site. Staff is very friendly and take pride in their park. We'll definitely be back.
