This was the first campground we ever went to. We bought the RV on Friday and headed to the Double J on Saturday. We told the owners we were newbies and they offered to help us with any issues we might have. The kids played on the basketball court and swings. There were dog walking/pooping areas. It was a great 1st experience.

Great place to visit the Lincoln Museum. For us that don't tow, picked up camp, parked in Springfield down town parking for RVs {free} and at the end of our day went back to the campground. Fun experience and will do it again.

**Long read-good ending** A few years ago I booked a 5-day stay. We leveled, hooked up, etc all that. I unhooked the toad and my wife and I went into town for dinner and a little shopping. Before we got back it started raining, I mean a downpour, one I would have pulled off the road, it was that hard. Anyway, we get back to the coach and I pull in front of it, a little to the passengers side and park. I then get the wifes walker out of the trunk, and the guy in the camper next to us started yelling, then screaming. Waving his hands and everything. I thought he was going to 'blow a gasket!' I helped the wife into the coach [remember it was downpouring rain] and then seen what the guy was upset about. It turns out my front tire was about 12" on the grass!! REALLY? In my assigned spot. Yes, signs say "Do not drive on the grass." but that response was way over the top. It was not even intentional. Even after I moved the car he kept giving me the stink eye. Whatever.
The next morning I was walking our dog and seen a guy on a golf cart, picking up trash, etc. He asked how I liked our stay so far, I said fine, outside of the rain, etc. We talked a while, and I discovered he was the owner. I related what had happened the night before, even admitting to accidently parking on the grass. He apologized and said that he had had trouble with him before. The next day 'that guy' was picking up all his stuff, his steps, etc. That night he was gone!! No more trouble and kudo's to the campground owner for acting swiftly to a problem that was brought to his attention. Double J campground, Chatham, Il just south of Springfield, Il earned my business.
