Pros: Good location
Cons: Many smaller sites

We stayed here summer of 2005 in a 40' motorhome. Zion national Park is closed to personal vehicle traffic now so they've established as shuttle system to take you to the various points of interest. There is also a village shuttle that runs through Springdale and it picks up right in front of the campground so once you park your rig you don't have to drive until it'stime to leave.

The campground is on a slope behind the Zion Lodge. It's an older campground so the sites are small and the trees are large and bulbous. There was a small row of big rig friendly sites but the majority of the sites were small and narrow. All sites are pretty tight together. Everything is dirt but it never rains there so mud shouldn't be an issue. The back sites of the campground are on the edge of the Virgin River but they are small non full hookup sites. It's a handy location for touring Zion but not one of the better campgrounds we've been in.

Pros: proximity to Zion National Park; Springdale is a nice town; location to shuttle
Cons: sites are a little dusty and cramped, spotty wireless

We stayed here over Columbus Day weekend in October 2009. I was expecting something a little more "polished"; I think the campground could really improve for not very much money if they poured some concrete pads and made the sites a little bigger. Also, just of note, some of the sites are pull-ins, so make sure you are aware of which site you are going to if you are expecting a back-in site. As it is, the campground has everything you need.
