Description: Very remote area. Gas up before you go. Not many stores nearby. About 25 first come first serve sites in 1 single loop with a grassy draw in the center. $30 on weekends. It was full on Memorial Day. (2) ADA sites w/ concrete pads across from bath shower house (clean) that has a super noisy exhaust fan that finally does shut off after 10 minutes. Other sites are basic gravel back-in w/ electric only, spaced about 40-50 apart, most on some slope. The campground does not overlook the river.

The lodge is a few blocks away up a steep road. Great CCC limestone construction with a balcony view overlooking the Ohio river. The restaurant has about 15 tables and a tasty 3 meat all you can buffet for $15 w/ various deserts. Very reasonable prices. Patio entertainment on weekends.

There is a bluff road leaving the park with several turnouts and picnic areas overlooking the river that we spent an afternoon parked at. The cave in rock is an impressive cavern with an interesting past that is fairly accessible with sturdy shoes.

Mosquitos and buffalo nats were out, but a steady breeze kept them at bay. Bring a fan to keep them back.

There is a free ferry at Cave-in Rock to cross the river to KY where there is an Amish store/community. The Rosiclare area has old fluorspar mines & minerals which are rather rare and unique. Our camp neighbors were mineral hounds and found a mineral museum in KY that was impressive the said.

Review Date: Mon June 10, 2019 Would you recommend the campground? Yes | Price you paid?: $30.00 | Rating: 0

Pros: Well groomed and clean restrooms. Lodge has good food at reasonable prices
Cons: Tight, sloping sites, 30A only, no river access

Not a destination but worth a day or so visit.
