Description: Pristine white sugar sand beaches and more than 6,000 feet of natural scenic shoreline border the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Natural features of the park include sand pines, scrub oaks, and dune rosemary. Boardwalks provide access to the beach for swimming, sunbathing, and fishing.

Pros: white sand beach, clean CG, EZ access to Destin
Cons: no sewer

Everthing you would expect from a beachside campground. A short walk on the boardwalk takes you through the sand dunes to a beautiful beach on the Gulf of Mexico only accessable to state park visitors. There is a seperate section of beach for day visitors so it is not crowded at all.

Most of the campsites are surrounded by thick underbrush which makes it very private. Firerings are available as well as a grill, water, 30/50 amp electrical. No sewer connection but ther is a dump station. The entire site is covered with finely crushed gravel which is almost as clean a concrete.

The bathhouses are air conditioned and clean. Pets are welcomed with the usual expectation that the owner is do a good job of cleanup.

Some of the things that you may want to do is: swim, surf fishing, biking, walking and visiting Destin.

The park is located on Hwy 98 which is a main highway but you can't see any of that from the CG. Across the street from the park entrance is a Wal-Mart and many resturants are located a few minutes away. One of my favorite places is the Bass Pro Shop which is about 8 minutes away.

As with most Florida State Parks, they lock the gate at sunset and give you a combo to the lock. If you are arriving late you need to call ahead and get the combo.

We have stayed here twice and will return again. If there were sewer connections Henderson Beach would be rated a 10!!

Pros: very clean, hosts are exceptionally friendly, wonderful campground, great playground for children
Cons: none

we found this campground in 2005. We have stayed there every spring since. It is very clean, and the hosts take pride in their campground. It is a great place for nature lovers, as the campground has a nature trail.
I would highly recommend this campground. But you need to reserve a year ahead of time.

Pros: Everything was first class
Cons: None

This campground is one of the crown jewels of the Florida State Park System. All state parks should be judged by this one.

Pros: Beautiful CG right across the street from Wally world.
Cons: Cannot get a rsvs. In the summer, take a lot of suntan lotion

While I have driven thru this park several times, I have not been able to stay here because it is always full year round. While its in town, you would never know it with the buffer between the road and the CG. Stay here if you can. We usually stay at Top Sail just up the road. This is also an outstanding park, but it is not right on the beach. s/Toby
