We had a great time at this park. It was our jumping off point to see all the historical sights in the area as well as a visit, with bicycles, to Callaway Gardens.

Spent a week in June 07. Great sites. Had the place to ourselves until Thursday, weekenders started coming in. Nice trails and overlooks. Even saw deer and turkey.

Pros:

close to Callaway Gardens and Little White House
|
Cons:

older part of campground didn't seem to be maintained very well. can not use your own boat or canoe
|
|
we stayed here for 4 nights over Labor Day weekend 2010. Sites by the lake are limited, most are tent sized only. older part of the campground not maintained very well, had to look closely at several sites to get a decent one, and still had to use every spark board i could to level!
didn't like that i had to rent a boat instead of being able to bring one. There is horseback riding available, and they do have sites close to the stables if you bring your own horses. all in all was a pleasant stay, we will go back, but i will stay in one of the newer sections of the campground.

We stayed here last March as part of our spring break trip. Beautiful campground with some nice 'buddy' sites for camping with friends. Only down side was the dump site which was being renovated and someone had spilled black tank so it was a clothespin wearing type of dump. Park ranger has since sent me an email and assured me that it has been cleaned up.

Cons:

Area 2,3, and 4 are tighter fits

We stayed during spring break March 25- 31, 2014. We really love Georgia state Parks. Sites in Area 5 are the biggest and if you arrive mid week you can score one of the better sites in areas 1-4. We would definitely come back here. We heard Callaway Gardens has a great Christmas lights display and we look forward to staying then.
