Description: IMHO, Rusty's RV Ranch is everything the website (http://www.rustysrvranch.com/) promises and more! We love the wide open spaces with mountain landscapes and this park offers it in spades. The park is a little over a year old. It was taken over by new owners and refreshed with a new office and landscaping. They have a large clubhouse on the front burner and hope to complete it in '08. Each lot is 1/4 acre and our space had a small pond and wetland area right beside us. We listened to lullabies and put to sleep at night by bass bull frogs and awakened by a flock of migrating Willets arriving for a rest stop. Portal, AZ., the eastern gateway to the Chiricahua Mtns. is 8 miles away. Our daily rate including the Escapee discount was $18. Rusty's RV Ranch was by far the best value of any RV park we stayed during in our 6 week journey through NM, AZ, UT, and CO. I would expect the best time to visit the area is late March through May and Sept thru Nov., but most any time will be very special

Pros: Beautiful Mountains, great stargazing.
Cons: Dusty, isolated, terrible customer service.

My husband and I drove 2,000 miles to this park based on their website. Although the landscape is beautiful our six month stay was disappointing. The sites are long but less than half of their listed 200 ft. The roads and sites are unpaved and high winds with mighty sandstorms coming across the valley shredded the cover over our large slide. When nature isn't blowing dust, maintenance kicks up the dirt with a tractor. There is no cell service within the park. Internet works better since my husband fixed it. Some days the park's water pump goes out for a while cutting water supply to guests. There is one public restroom and one shower. The laundry room is adequate. There are minimal grocery items and the nearest grocery store is 50 miles away. There is no pool; there is no functioning hot tub, as advertised; there is and activities tent but it is impractical because of the high winds and dirt; there are no llamas, as advertised; there is no Sky Gypsy Cafe nearby, as advertised; there is no movie theater nearby, as advertised; there is no organic market, as advertised. The mail service is sporadic and they deliver mail when they feel like it. Campers would benefit more from staying at a reputable park. We will not be staying there again.
NOTE: Previous positive reviews mention "upcoming improvements" which are not there 3 years later. Also, advertised amenities have been gone for up to a year without updates.
