Description: Babler is a very wooded campground, with large grassy sites. Babler is 26 miles from the St. Louis Zoo (it is free addmission) and about 30 miles from the Arch. The campground has very well maintained paved interior roads with cement pads. Most pads are very level. There are many sites with 50 amp electric, but Babler has no sewer, or water hook ups. Some sites have a water hydrant nearby, but bring 50' or more of hose. Sites are on a first come basis, others are reservable.

Pros: Large sites, well maintained and very clean
Cons: Not a full hookup campground(for those inclined)

Our 10 rating is much different than others 10. We are more into space and the outdoors, not hot tubs, WiFi,and cable ect. Nothing wrong with those ammenities, but we vacation to get more..... away. I'm sure when we retire we may want to stay more connected.....maybe not.

Wow, this is a great state park. For us, this park shines above the typical tightly packed parks that were our other options. We stayed here in mid May, instead of Sundermeier. The distance to St. Louis is about the same. Babler has sites that can be reserved and others that are available on arrival. Babler is booked for most weekends, so it is best to arrive early week (Tuesday-Wednesday), and select a non reservable site. You can then stay for 15 days. Our site #45 was 50 feet from a water hydrant, and had 50 amp service. While here we saw deer, wild turkey, raccoon, and my first Pileated Woodpecker. Swimming, hiking, and bike trails abound in the park. This park would be magnificent in the fall!! We stayed here in a 36' MH, and without a doubt, will stay here again and again.

Pros: Big sites, lots of wooded area around, well maintained
Cons: No water or sewer at sites

We stayed here for a weekend in late Oct., the last weekend that they had the water on and bathrooms open. The foilage was beautiful. We live about 20 miles away and will be back often for quick getaways. We visited 6 campgrounds in Missouri and Illinois this summer and this is our favorite.

Pros: Nice spaced out sites. Several have decent shade and is nncie and quiet.
Cons: No sewer or pad water hookup as stated. Bring some extra hose.

We stay here 2 to 3 times a year and some with our camping group in the fall. Our group really likes this park. Close to all kinds of shopping in case you forgot something. Making reservations in the busy time is better.
