Description: Beautiful state park nestled on top of Look Out Mountain in the extreme north west corner of Georgia. As the name implies, the campground is built on the edges of a canyon. The canyon has two waterfalls with developed trails (stairs, you'll need 'em) on the east side and primitive trails from the west side. A much longer hike coming from the west side.

The campground itself is divided between the east rim and west rim. The east rim sites accomodate tents and small pop-ups/class C's and B's. The west rim campground can handle larger 5th wheels and Class A's. 30amp and water at sites, easy in/out dump station.

This is a mountain campground so some sites can be steep or have retaining walls with steps that take you down to the table and tent pad. Roads are paved and a bit narrow with tight turns in some places. The parking portion of the sites are hard-packed gravel and fairly level.

Squirrels, chipmunks, song birds and humming birds abound. There are tennis courts but I have never seen them used. Whether walking the campground or taking one of the many groomed hiking trails, the scenery is beautiful.

The town of Trenton is just a few miles away at the bottom of the mountain with a couple of restraunts and several fast food places. Chattanooga is 33 miles away with a good-size Camping World on Ringold Road.

This post is being written in June of 2007. The park has announced that ALL sites will be rebuilt before the end of the year and able to accomodate large rigs (both east and west rim). Electricity is supposed to be upgraded to 50 amp and there may be some full hook-ups.

Pros: Beatufiful scenery, nice sites, good location
Cons: Can't think of any

We tent camped at Cloudland Canyon and loved it. The facilities were very clean and I liked the way the loop accomodated tent campers, RVs and nice cottages . If you want more than the campground has to offer, it is a great location for visiting Chattanooga, TN.

Pros: clean, well laid out sites
Cons: no sewer

Beautiful place. Campsites well laid out so that your outdoor living space in not in someone elses! We stayed on the East rim and didn't feel crowded at all. Bath houses while older were very clean!

Pros: Sites are huge and open
Cons: None we found

This is by far is our favorite Georgia State Park so far. We camped in the west rim in March of 2013. It snowed the first night and it was very cold but the views were great. A short walk takes you to some great trails and the canyon hike is "breath taking" with many stairs. We will be back here. Lots of geocaches nearby too.

Pros: lots of hiking, Beatufiful views, very peaceful
Cons: none

We camped Cloudland first week of August. We LOVED IT! Facilities were kept clean. We scoped out both loops (east & west) before setting up. Although the east loop is closer to the canyon and hiking trails, the west loop offers more shade. Verizon phones and AT&T hotspot both had good 4G signal. Good TV reception with antenna. Close to Chattanooga and Lake Winnie amusement park (20-30 Mins). Only 6 miles to Grocery Stores, Restaurants, Auto Parts stores and other shopping.
