Description:

Small Vermont State Park on the western side of the state. About 50 sites. All the sites are non-electric. Many of the sites are very large with wide turn in room. They have two nice showerhouses. They have a small campground beach on Lake St. Catherine. Next to the campground there also is a larger beach. They only open from the end of May to the Labor Day weekend. All the sites are fine gravel surfaced. Even though it is on the lake only 4-5 sites butt up to the lake. The other sites are a 5 minute walk away. The hiking trails are so - so.....The water in the lake is crystal clear....

Campground is typical for Vermont State run campgrounds....clean, well managed with friendly staff.
They close up for the season too early (right after Labor Day weekend in early September and before prime foliage season...very sad.
This site should add a few more to the list in Vermont.
The campgrounds on lake Champlain run by the State Parks Department are also great. There are 2: DAR and Button Bay both are very popular and advanced reservations are required in June, July and August. Button Bay stays open until Columbus Day weekend. Another lake side campground is Lake Bomeseen campground also a State Park.
Others that are of equal note include: Grand Isle , Crystal Lake, Half Moon Pond and Island Pond. All are no-hook-up sites with clean restrooms, plenty of water taps and dump stations. Sites are very large.....all are worth considering if you are going to visit Vermont. Vermont has established new rules (2014) for generator use at State Campgrounds. In past years loud generators run around the clock demanded some regulation. The new rule is generators may be run only between 8 and 10 in the morning and 4 and 6 in the afternoon. This has worked out just fine at the 3 campgrounds I stayed at this year.
There are many other state run campgrounds in Vermnot. I have only listed campgrounds I have used or inspected.
Hope this additional information has been helpful.
Happy Camping!!!
