Description: Located about an hour north of Little Rock off of I-40, Petit Jean State Park is Arkansas first state park and has one of the best campgrounds of any state park in the US. The park is located on top of Petit Jean Mountain about 1,100 feet above the Arkansas River below. In area A there are 31 pull through and back in sites that are big rig accessible with full hookups (30/50Amp, water, and sewer). There are another 60 sites in other areas that are back in with 30Amp and water available (dump station in park). The park also has cabins and a lodge. Lake Bailey meanders through the park, reducing down to a large stream with several waterfalls. There are 20 miles of hiking trails running all through the park. Spectacular views are everywhere you look. For more information go to: http://www.petitjeanstatepark.com/

Pros: Very scenic - Good hiking
Cons: Limited full hookups

If you can get in the full hookup area, it is quite nice, however, too few full hookup sites. Some VERY nice hiking trails and some caves with pictographs. Incredible waterfall hike, but flowing only at about 5% due to drought. We visited June 2012.

Pros:
Cons:

Large lots with full hook-ups, nicely maintained. I would highly recommend it everyone traveling through the area.
