Description: Small state park located directly across the street from Lake Erie. Swimming beach a short bicycle distance away. We were in one of the only 3 full hook up sites. The fhu sites were in the no pet section; there are no fhu sites in the pet section.

Paved roads and sites with grass, fire rings and picnic tables. Sites are nice size with mix of shade, shade and sun or full sun. Unlike most OH state parks, I did not notice an abundance of critters. Maybe they had plenty to eat at the lake without having to resort to raiding campsites. Rental cabins across the street had lakefront property and their own private beach. Restrooms/showers (typical OH state park cinder block style) were clean but (typical) need updating. Small campstore with usual items and tourist info.

The new lodge is located a couple miles east of the state park entrance. There are no inner park roads that connect the park's campground to the lodge site. Also, be aware that the lodge is NOT affiliated with the state park, so campers do not have priviledges at the lodge's pools, work-out room, game room...etc. We were told this when inquiring about a day pass to use the lodge indoor pool.

Pros: Lake Erie location, roomy sites, practically empty during the week
Cons: Small number of sites, no full hook ups in pet section

Price paid reflects a 15% camper club discount (program discontinued in 2007) on a fhu back-in site.

Pros: Nearby attractions, Lake, Geneva on the Lake, several top area wineries
Cons: Long line at only dump site at end of weekend, but it was Labor Day

We had to use first come first served for a spot during Labor Day weekend as the reservations were full. By the time we arrived, they were full. However, officer had us in a spot within 40 minutes, so we were very lucky. Nice, clean quiet atmosphere. A lot of boaters and fisherman were present.
Nearby Geneva on the Lake is a throwback to the 50's 60's era, lot of fun just walking through the downtown arcades and restaurants and bars. Labor Day weekend is a big biker weekend, so that brought fun as well, thousands of bikes rumbling through the area. We visited Ferranti's Winery, Chalet Debonne Vineyards, South River Vineyard (in old Church!) and Harpersfield Vineyard and there are probably 10 more in the area. Also an Old Covered Bridge in Harpersfield, all within 10 miles of the campground. No problems, easy access to beach (can walk, but it is about .5 miles). We used electric only, (which is a luxury to us as we spend most of our RV time without any hookup amenities) price was very reasonable.
