Description: Summary From The Sites Web Pages: Cape Disappointment State Park (formerly Fort Canby State Park) is a 1,882-acre camping park on the Long Beach Peninsula, fronted by the Pacific Ocean. The park offers 27 miles of ocean beach, two lighthouses, an interpretive center and hiking trails. Visitors enjoy beachcombing and exploring the area's rich natural and cultural history. The nearby coastal towns of Ilwaco and Long Beach feature special events and festivals spring through fall.

For very detailed information about this campground visit: http://www.parks.wa.gov

We found Sat TV (DirectTV) fine, Cell coverage not available in the area most close to the beach (around site #20 where we stayed) but available near the entrance, small store and dock areas. Also up on the higher hills overlooking the campground. Did not find TV Antenna coverage from any stations.

We think this is a great park and would stay here again. Ilwaco has some very good restaurants but it is not walkable and a long bike ride without bike specific lanes. I think it would be dangerous to bike to/from Ilwaco or Longbeach after dark and would require vigilance during the day.

The grounds were very clean with many camp hosts located through out the park. The beach is flat and easy to walk on except at the highest of tides. I walked a few of the trails. They are well mainatined although just after winter there is usually some cleanup necessary. In those cases, trail heads were well marked of any hazards or adverse trail conditions. It was quite in the evenings and although many people had pets they were required to be on a leash (although on the beach a few had somehow broken free... imagine that!).

Pros: Nice location
Cons:

A great place. Have stayed there and hosted there several times. If you are in the beach-side loop, you can be asked to move during a storm as waves DO wash into the loop.

Pros: Great beach, big sites.
Cons: None.

Hands down our favorite park. We stay an average of 10-15 days per year. The full hook ups fill up quickly so make your reservations early. Great for beach combing, hiking, biking.......or just kicking back and relaxing. This is a must stay park.
