Description: Beautiful state park about a half hour SE of Cincinnati. It has a large campground, rental cabins, a large lake for boating/fishing & a big beach. This is a popular park on weekends & is very busy & crowded with people & boats.

There are 384 campsites. The campsites are a mix of open and wooded sites with paved pads, picnic tables & fire rings. Most sites have a lot of room and many back up to dense woods with cleared out areas where the tables & fire rings are located. There are 7 full hook up sites (2 in no-pet section & 5 in a pet section). Ours was in the no-pet section & was in close proximity to several camping cabins. There is a separate section just for campers with horses.

All interior roads are paved & provide plenty of routes for biking. There's a mini golf course, bikes to rent, playgrounds, an amphitheatre where they show family movies on weekends, numerous hiking/walking trails, picnic areas & all the other usual things to do in a state park. The bathhouses are a bit old & in need of a serious updating. The campground staff worked hard to keep them clean, even on a very busy weekend.

This is a nice state park, with a lot to do, in a pretty area of the state. It's close proximity to the Cincinnati area makes it an ideal place to stay.

Review Date: Tue August 26, 2008 Would you recommend the campground? Yes | Price you paid?: $29.58 | Rating: 8

Pros: Nice sized sites, beach, movie night on weekends, rangers patrol regularly
Cons: Very crowded on weekends, outdated bathhouses, some campers rowdy

Price paid reflects a 15% camper club discount (program discontinued in 2007) on an fhu back-in site.

There is great need for a sarcasm font.
