Description: Large campground located in a lake community with easy access from I-70.

The campground is beautifully landscaped, well-kept & has a lot of ammenities & planned activities (weekends). The owners & staff go out of their way to make your visit pleasureable. It has a well stocked campstore, pavillions, cabins, pool, playground, mini-golf, bicycle rentals, shuffleboard, giant jumping pillow, oversized outdoor chess/checkers, horseshoes, basketball, ping pong, a game room, basketball court, fire truck/hay rides, free Wi-Fi & propane. The showers/restrooms were very clean & bright. The owners & staff patrol the grounds frequently. There's even a nice-sized fenced in dog-agility area specifically designed for Fido! Many of the activities are at an extra cost, typical with a KOA. Be sure to get a price sheet at the office.

The sites in the older section of the campground are well shaded, but are spaced very close together. The large trees in this part can pose problems with awning deployment & maneuvering into your site. I specifically posted one photo above that shows just how close one site's sewer connection is to the neighboring site's patio/picnic table (ewww!). This is typical for the majority of sites in the front of the campground.

There is a very small creek that runs through this part of the campground. It was pretty slow when we were there, but I could see where the water was standing, it could be a mosquito haven. I'm told the owners keep up with spraying, though, & we didn't have issues with the biting bugs when we were there in early September.

The new section of the campground consists of 15 extra long, gravel, level fhu pull-throughs with deluxe patios. There are also 2, back-in long sites with the deluxe patios. Some even have potted flowering plants for further decoration. These sites are much more roomy. Being a new section, though, the newly planted trees are too small to provide shade, so this would be the section to be in if you want clear satellite reception. The patios are either poured concrete with picnic table, decorative fire pit & a lamp post or they are stamped concrete, with picnic table, decorative fire pit, raised charcoal grill, patio furniture, a swing & a lamp post. The patios are huge & run nearly the entire length of the sites (which are approx 80-85 ft long). Of course, these deluxe sites come at a price...$63.30 weeknights/$67.50 weekends. Although quite pricey, I much preferred these spacious sites & lovely patios to the closely packed sites in the older section.

With all the ammenities & things to do at the campground, you really wouldn't need to venture out for several days. But if you do, you are within 1 mile of Buckeye Lake where you can boat, fish, jet-ski, take a tour boat ride, have a nice meal/drink overlooking the lake from the restaurant patios that are popping up along the shoreline...etc.

This is a beautifully, well-maintained, friendly, ammenity-filled campground that was a delight to visit. More photos under my username in the campground photos section.

Review Date: Fri September 12, 2008 Would you recommend the campground? Yes | Price you paid?: $40.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Beautiful, ammenities/activities, deluxe sites, cleanliness, friendly staff
Cons: High prices, very close/narrow sites in older section

Price paid reflects a rally discount we got on a fhu w/cable pull-through deluxe patio site. If the prices weren't so high (standard prices) or they didn't charge so much for some activities, I would've rated it a 10. Best bang for the buck if you can get them on a B1G1 weekend.
