Description: Easy access from RT-23 just north of Delaware. Lots of wildlife throughout the park. Both skunks and raccoons frequently travel through sites & don't seem to be bothered at all by people.

Sites were of all sizes, paved, both shaded and open. All sites are electric only, but water is available at bath/showerhouses in each loop. ADA sites have concrete patio pads, raised fire pits and grills. Pet & no-pet loops are kept separate.

Activities for children and movie nights. Medium sized beach area was fairly clean. Lots of flat paved roads for biking. Playgrounds are located in each loop.

Showerhouses were mostly clean, but could use updating with paint and new shower curtains.

This is a nice, basic state park with sites to suit anyone from tenters to motorhomes.

Pros: Varied site options, pet sites separate from no-pet sites, price, weekend movies (summer)
Cons: Electric only sites, bathrooms need updating

Price paid reflects a 15% camper club discount (program discontinued in 2007) on an electric only back-in site that has a concrete patio pad with raised charcoal grill. This site has since become handicap only site.

Pros: Generous space between most campsites.
Cons: Bath houses need upgraded. Inconvenient to park attractions

The campground is clean, well laid out and there is a generous amount of "buffer area" between most sites. It's quiet except for trains you can hear off in the distance. The dump station can accommodate two RVs at a time. The bath house, while clean, is dated and needs upgraded to the 21 century. Sorry, but locker room style dressing rooms are a thing of the past; especially with children using them. The shower temperature can be regulated but they are equipped with those annoying push-button thingys. All 211 sites are electric only.

The campground is not within easy walking distance to anything. There are hiking trails to reach the lake and swimming areas but if you have things to take with you (and most people do), You're going to have to drive. Even from the site we were on, #13, it took my wife and I about 15-20 minutes to walk to the camp store that's located inside the registration office. We also hiked the Briar Patch Trail- a 1.5 mile trail that encircles the number 4 campsite loop. The trail was well marked and dry.

Things to do? Not a lot outside of what the park has to offer. We visited a couple of wineries in the area. There are weekend campground activities for the kids in the summer season. Shopping, food and dining were in the town of Delaware, about 4-5 miles away- not counting the 2-3 mile ride just to get out to the park's entrance on US-23.

Signage on US-23 south for the park's entrance was non-existent. I was in the right lane waiting for the light at the intersection where you turn when I saw the sign for the park on the opposite side of the street. There was no way I could get over to the left turn lane and had to travel about 2 miles before I could find an opportunity to make a U-turn with a 29' travel trailer.

Pros: state campground
Cons: roads not usable by big rigs

for smaller campers only, i.e., received roof damage on coach due to low hanging branches on roads. Nice for families.
