Description: Wishon Village RV Resort is located about 30 miles from Shaver Lake, Ca. at 6772 feet in elevation. The resort roads are paved, somewhat steep and some tight turns. RV sites are graveled and almost all are very level and shaded. Many RV sites are double wide to accommodate the RV, tow vehicle or toad and boat and trailer. Fishing is the most popular pastime with Wishon 1 mile, and Courtright 7.5 miles away. It can be cool in the early summer and early fall. Sites have full hook-ups.

Pros: Large RV sites, store on site, shaded
Cons: Lower level 25-97 is busier than 1-24

We rate this a 7 because of the traffic (not a lot, but we are used to boondocking)within the resort. However, this resort is near hiking and fishing in the high country of the Sierra's. We stayed here two weekends in a row. They have on site storage at $5 per day. Memorial weekend it snowed, see the campground picture. It is a long drive in, so plan to spend more than a few days. We never used the restrooms and bath facilities (they are clean)so we do not know the conditions. Some of the sites have steep approaches so be sure to ask the resort employees as to the ability of your rig to fit. Corners can be tight and steep also but we saw a 40 foot 5th wheel and a 40 foot MH. We stayed here in a 36 foot MH.

July 2006. We have just stayed in the upper part of the park and there is much less traffic. Sites 1-24. We give the upper part of the park an 8. This year we have stayed there 8 weekends and holidays.

2007 update. WiFi is now available....8.85 is now the rating. The lake is low but the fishing is very good, with native German Browns in the narrows. This is a great spot for the outdoors enthusiast. We are here every weekend this summer.

2008. Just posted a few new pictures from the dusting of snow on Memorial Day. Here every weekend again, saving fuel.

2009 we are in site #9. The lake is high and looks good. Caught 25 trout our first day out in 2 1/2 hours.

Ospreys are numerous, and have learned to steal the fish from your line. We have seen Bald and Golden Eagles this year too.

2010: We are not up at Wishon this year, but they have done some paving in the upper campground. It will eliminate any dust from campers. The high country got a tremendous amount of snow this year. Wishon will be at max capacity, and they just this weekend 6.25.10 opened Courtright, there had been too much snow. Caught Rainbow and German Brown last week, most around 18"-20". Enjoy.

2011 Wishon has received a record 40 FEET of snow this year and it is still coming down. It will be a wonderful summer this year with an abundance of waterfalls dropping into the lake.

We live out in our old van. Travel all across this land. Drive until the city lights dissolve into a country sky, me and you - hand in hand.
