Description: Sauder Village Campground is a 37-site campground located on the grounds of Historic Sauder Village (named for the founder of Sauder Furniture), a complex which contains a recreation village of life from the 19th century, a self-guided museum, a full-service hotel, a restaurant, a bakery, & a retail store/outlet for Sauder Furniture. All of which are within easy walking distance of the campground. The entire complex is located just south of the Turnpike (I-80/I-90) in NW OH.

All sites are 50amp (they rent 50 to 30/20 amp adapters for those with lesser amp campers, if you don't already have an adapter), wide gravel pads with nice grass, shade trees, fire rings & picnic tables. They have only 3 fhu sites, the rest are a combination of electric only at the pull-thru sites or water & electric at the back-in sites. The sites are fairly spacious side-to-side, with the back-ins being 48ft long & the pull-thrus being 75ft long.

Campers have access to the hotel's pool & game room via a door card & you get a $1.50 discount coupon for entrance to the Historic Village area. You can also take advantage of the hotel's continental breakfast for $5 per person (complimentary to hotel guests). Free Wi-Fi is provided, although the signal is low at the campground - probably because the transmitter is at the hotel. The tiled restrooms/showers & separate laundry were clean & bright.

There's a catch & release pond, group campfire area, small playground & also cute small-scale steam train (from the Historic Village) that runs behind sites 1-11. You'll hear it's "toot-toot" from about 10AM-4PM daily.

The on-site restaurant (The Barn) was good at a decent price. I would also recommend The Home Restaurant (fantastic goulash!), Mom's Diner (50's style interior) or Ickey's (bar/grill) all located in downtown Archbold.

This is a delightful campground that's part of an interesting & educational historic site & I would recommend it to anyone travelling to or through the area.

Review Date: Wed October 21, 2009 Would you recommend the campground? Yes | Price you paid?: $28.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Spacious sites, access to hotel ammenities, next to historic village
Cons: Small number of fhu sites, pull-thru sites electric only

Price paid is for a w/e back-in site. I would've rated it higher if it had more fhu sites.
