I think I've figured it out . . . it's the batterries (the so-called brand new batteries they said they put in.) One morning last week when it got down to about -13 overnight, I once again awoke to no heat. I started the motorhome's engine to run the cab heater and lo and behold the furnace kicked in. Same thing this morning, was cold last night, woke up to no heat, fired up the engine, presto! furnace kicks in.

To save my sanity, I had to cut my losses and walk away.
They jerry-rigged the ducting and redirected the airflow, but it wasn't a well thought-out move. Now, the bedroom vent produces no heat or air at all, and the warm air is redirected via ducting into my storage area. Completely useless. However, at least it blows warm air consistently.
