Spring Training Baseball- Phoenix, Arizona

Posted 03-09-2015 at 05:22 PM by surferlou

We are big Arizona Diamondbacks fans. Since last year, the Cactus League no longer plays in Tucson. Now we have to drive up to Phoenix if we want to see our team up close before the regular season starts. We stayed at Green Acres RV park in Mesa, Arizona. It's about what I expected, tight spaces, with lots of long timers who keep to themselves. The Phoenix light rail runs right in front of the park, so we left the truck at the park and rode the light rail (just $4 for a 24 hour pass) Mill Ave and...

Coming up on one year of Travel Trailer adventures!

Since our last post, we relocated from Albuquerque to Tucson. Our travel trailer came in handy during the relocation. I was unaware that hotels charge an arm and a leg for a "pet deposit". We stayed in our travel trailer for a couple of days with our furry friends at no extra charge. We stayed at the Adventure Bound RV Resort https://www.abcamping.com/abtucson/ which is right off I-10 and Houghton rd. I highly recommend this RV resort if you need a quiet, clean place to camp near Tucson....

First time dry camping with our travel trailer

Posted 08-27-2014 at 10:05 AM by surferlou

Our friends invited us to spend the weekend at El Vado Lake State Park. There is an established RV park nearby (Coopers El Vado Ranch) but our friends just bought a 12 acre parcel to build their dream cabin, and invited us to park on their recently graded and graveled section near their fifth wheel.

Starting to get the hang of this travel trailer stuff!

Our weekend in Red River, New Mexico was fantastic. My only regret is that we didn't have an extra day or two to stay longer.

We arrived at the River Ranch RV park around 7:30pm. Our hosts were kind enough to guide us to our spot, and help make sure I had enough room for my slide outs and such. The park is nice enough, but pretty close together. This is not the RV park for introverts. We made some new friends with our neighbors and got settled in for the night.

Saturday...

Updated 07-22-2014 at 02:29 PM by surferlou (Adding text)

We are looking forward to this weekend as we will visit Red River, New Mexico. We passed through Red River a couple of years ago while driving the Enchanted Circle https://www.enchantedcircle.org/page.php?p=maps in New Mexico. I vowed to return and spend a weekend there, and now that we have our travel trailer, I will make it happen.

We made reservations at the River Ranch RV park in Red River. After our somewhat less than stellar first outing at Turquoise Trails, I am looking forward...

Our first travel trailer!!!

Posted 07-16-2014 at 10:35 AM by surferlou

I love adventure and the great outdoors. I love roughing it in tents and being in places where I can catch the first light of day and hear the birds chirping. My wife, not so much. So, we bought a travel trailer so she can have the comforts of home and I can still be in the great outdoors. I think a solid marriage involves compromise from time to time, who am I kidding? ALL the time!

We purchased a (Winnebago) Sunnybrook Remington 2200DS, towing it with a 2012 Ram 1500 Quad Cab. ...
