Holy c*%p the learning curve is getting steep

Posted 12-30-2018 at 08:51 PM by MEWright

When we got the coach a few months ago we did the usual walk through "Tour" then we were waved goodbye.

I had a pretty good idea of the depth of the pool I had just jumped in, I knew the water temp and thought I could recognize the hazards..

I remember this like it was yesterday, (For those with a Fleetwood Discovery you may want to take notice here),

During the new owner walk through, I was shown how to open the pull out for the generator....

First 'on the road" breakdown...and other stuff

Posted 12-26-2018 at 09:34 PM by MEWright

We left Austin for the coast this morning with 1/8th tank of fuel. Waiting for the cheapest diesel I could find I put myself in a position to buy the most expensive..

Also the pumps machines were down so you had to go inside. While waiting to pay with the other 5 truckers, a few other "truckers" came in bitching loudly about the pump blocking RV driver ME,,,, I spun around and told them very loudly that I was in line to pay just like the other...

What we did around the house for the coach

Posted 12-19-2018 at 09:57 PM by MEWright
Updated 12-20-2018 at 06:47 AM by MEWright (typo)

Well, I think there are different types of MH families;
1. FT'ers
2. Store at CG (part time'ers - Weekend'ers)
3. Store off Site 'ers
4. Store at Home 'ers

We are Home'ers; DOOOH

Once we decided to get a coach (cant call my coach a motor home, sounds to much like mobile home ) I knew I did not want to store it off site. Out of site out of mind. The more I see it the more I want to use it. Our neighborhood has no restrictions...

Its getting cold in TX so its time to drain everything

Posted 12-19-2018 at 08:05 PM by MEWright

Its early December in Texas and starting to get cold (for us). I decided to go ahead and drain everything. We did not have a trip planned for a few weeks and I was concerned we might really drop in temp. I did not want to do this procedure for the first time at night when a norther was blowing in, freezing my butt off outside hopping I did it all correctly.

I opened the door of the wet bay and followed the directions to the letter. Step by step winterizing directions are on a sticker...

Days 3-4-5 of the trip to Hot Springs AR

Posted 11-23-2018 at 08:53 PM by MEWright

Day 3 we spent in Hot Springs shopping and walking around the town center. Cute little stores but nothing really special. We found some Christmas presents and did a lot of walking. It was still pretty cold so we ducked into every open store. Had great pizza at Grateful Head. This was a very good pizza, loaded very fresh topping and an awesome crust. Highly recommend going here. They also have homemade root-beer for the kids. Their 14” large was way more than enough for me and my wife. Daughter had...

End of day 2 in Hot Springs ARK

Posted 11-20-2018 at 09:00 PM by MEWright

We left Crater of Diamonds at 11 and made it through some amazingly beautiful country without getting distracted, much….

This is a beautiful state with pretty good roads. Logging trucks like to haul ass but they do that everywhere. Pulled off on the shoulder a few times to let traffic by so we could drive slowly and enjoy the mountains and incredible views. Nice windy roads big shoulders not much traffic and its warming up nicely during the day so my feet are not hating me as much...

First Biggie (Arkansas Trip for Thanksgiving Days 1 and 2 )

Posted 11-20-2018 at 02:17 PM by MEWright

We left Austin at 7:30 am heading up 281 towards FW Texas. Not having RV'ed in the cold (yeah I know 40s not cold to some of yall but its FEEZIN TO US).. We left some things at home that we should have brought. cold weather boots, fuzzy socks etc...

Apparently, the coldest place in the RV (other than in the darn freezer) is the floorboard on the drivers’ side. Who the heck though that they could save a nickel by not putting a vent here needs to drawn and quartered. My feet were frozen...

We did it! We left on a trip and made it home IN THE RV,, HOORRAAAYYY

Posted 10-31-2018 at 09:36 PM by MEWright

Well it has been a long road with many, many setbacks along the way. We were not ready to give up on RVing, our dealership or our dream.

The new Fleetwood Discovery 40g was/is so amazing.

We left on Friday night for Rockport TX, about a 4.5 hour drive from our house.

We did do the one thing that we were told not to do, I never meant to or wanted to do and would NEVER recommend someone do in a new coach, arrive at a new campsite in a new class A at...

The first night in your coach should be memorable

Posted 10-20-2018 at 09:39 PM by MEWright

Well, its that time;
We have had it home for a week and packed it all up. We want to head out but as many of you know Texas is flooding. Anywhere its not raining, it is about to or has just stopped.

So we decide to spend the first night in the new coach in our driveway. Very short notice, no planning just lets watch a movie in it to lets spend the night here.

Wife wakes up about 12:15 and heads into house leaving me in the king bed and our daughter in the...

The Dicsoverys trip Home

Posted 10-17-2018 at 09:13 PM by MEWright

We have had it home for a week. It has been pouring rain but I have managed to get an amazing amount of stuff loaded. We still have all our personal stuff, bedding, clothes, books, food etc... to load but we are closing in on it.

I cant wait for this weekend. Even if we dont leave in it we will stay in the driveway since we have a 50AMP plug in our driveway we can staycation here.

Not sure if everyone is fully aware of the flooding in central Texas is right now but,...

Part 9--- No way!

Posted 10-05-2018 at 04:34 PM by MEWright

Well its Friday and we are in Austin, not in Boerne picking up our new coach...

WTH you ask????

Well Thursday started like any other day. About 3 i get an email that it has been delayed for Friday.

Apparently there was a simple recall on the Fleetwoods about a power steering hose. Ancira RV sent the coach to Freightliner SA to have this addressed. On route a check engine light came on. Holy CR$P Batman, another check engine light. ...

Part 8 -- The New Deal

Posted 10-03-2018 at 01:41 PM by MEWright

Ancira RV will take the 2015 Thor Palazzo 33.3 back and get us out of it 100% like it never happened.

They are getting us into a 2014 Fleetwood Discovery 40G. The 2014, 40G has 1600 miles all new tires, new batteries and the normal make ready that this dealership does.

Like I have stressed from the beginning of this tale, we were never "pissed or even upset" at the dealership, they have done everything they could have done and done it right. We were never...

Part 7 - 1 yard line, Its almost official

Posted 10-01-2018 at 06:17 PM by MEWright

Well, it looks we have all agreed to the new deal.

Remember, we bought a 2015 Thor Palazzo 33.3 from Ancira RV in Boerne Texas.

2 major malfunctions later (read the previous blogs to see the issues) Ancira RV agreed to help us into a different coach .

When we first started shopping we looked at a 2017 Fleetwood Discovery 40G. AWESOME coach way way way out of our budget and we decided to go smaller for the first few years, learn RVing...

Part 6 Unpacking

Posted 09-30-2018 at 07:39 PM by MEWright
Updated 09-30-2018 at 07:53 PM by MEWright

Not sure how many of you have ever sold a coach. But I can tell you one thing for certain for those who have not. You will need more boxes than you think. For a coach we had in our possession for only a few days total we sure packed it full of stuff.

I went to Freighter SA on Friday to unload the remaining items from our coach. I had previously unload allot of it when it broke down the second time leaving me stranded.

The first round we took a full truck load out,...
