We are well into our tour of the east coast of Canada. We spent a couple of days in Woodstock, NB before heading down to Grand Manan Island. I was an exchange student there 31 years ago. I googled the name of my host from then & lo & behold he was there. I contacted him the day before we were due to arrive on Grand Manan and he was happy to meet us later that evening. He gave us a heads up of some places we should go and we spent the next 5 days exploring the island. I also went to visit...

We toured downtown Ottawa today. I think we picked the hottest weather to arrive in. After doing some online checking we decided to take the OC Transpo. We also agreed this was the least confusing as we had gone out last night for a tour around the parliament buildings. After getting turned around 4 times even with Onstar guiding us, we were very stressed out. No parking whatsoever, streets that you could drive into but could not enter further down (don't ask), and narrow roads (tough with a truck...

We are finally & truly on our way to the east coast. We have had alot of driving in the last few days.
We left Winnipeg on Sat July 7th. We drove to Fort Frances, Ont and spent the night there at Pithers Point Park. A very nice municipal campground. We had a lovely community fire that night. The next morning we drove the #1 hiway to Nipigon, Ont. What a wonderful drive, lake views, hills, trees, very pretty. We stayed 2 nights at Stillwater Tent & Trailer park. What a lovely place....

We are on the road, finally. After a few family stops ( seems it took forever). We left Winnipeg on Saturday July 7. What a nice drive down to Fort Frances, Ont. There are a lot of lakes in that area. We spent the night at the town operated camp grounds along the shore of Rainy River. Pithers Point Park was very nice and relatively cheap ($31), we had to dump at the municipal dump as we were leaving but that was ok. We had water and hydro hookups with a communal fire pit that was quite...

It is almost Christmas. We have stayed home for the last two months and just spent the time helping out my sister with the girls. We did take down the screened in room about the middle of Nov. This was done in advance of a storm/wind warning. At one point I think we had wind gusts around 80kmh. Really rocked HOWie. My uncle has moved in beside us from Creston, BC. He has a MH that he wants to trade for another 5er that is winter proof. The current MH has no insulation so tanks will freeze on him....

It has been a long time since I posted anything here. We were busy siteseeing things around the central region of Vancouver Island. We are still parked in Jinglepot CG. Have a wonderful site here and now we are on winter rates. We have put out the screened in room for the wet season. When the snow comes later on we will put it away & roll up the awning. We put down a deck (pallets from one of the local lumber stores) and it is really nice. I then went shopping at the Recycle Depot here and over...

As I write this we are in Kamloops B.C. at the Knutsford CG. I took the plunge & pulled the 5er down the road from Wapiti CG in Canmore AB to Kamloops. I have never driven in the mtns with a 37ft trailer, just a mid size car yrs ago! Never ran anyone off the road, took curbage & even backed into our campsite here. Yay for me! Now we are going to take the #1 Transcanada to the ferry at Tsawassen then catch the Duke Point ferry to Nanaimo. This has been quite an adventure. The last time my...

We are still at the local campground that is high above the river that overflowed. We have approximately 2 weeks before we move out west. We have survived numerous rain storms, pea sized hail, 80kmh winds and very little sunshine since embarking on our adventure. Oh, and to top it all off, I have spent more time sick these last 2 weeks than anything else. Nasty cold/cough that will not go away. $120 worth of medicine from the Dr. yesterday should clear up by Sat so that I can go back to work until...

We have found out today that all the information that Brandon has been getting from Saskatchewan on water levels is false. They are now saying there is more water than what they are prepared for. The city is now scrambling to shore up the dikes surrounding the flood plain & lotsa people are on standby for evacuation. Businesses are being warned that they should remove things off the floor. Dealerships should remove inventory to higher ground. We are sure glad that our trailer is on very high...

Well as I write this we are under a winter storm warning. It is the end of April in Southwestern Manitoba & we are also in a flood watch for the whole southwestern part of Manitoba. Geez, only in Manitoba. We were wearing shorts on the 27th. So far in our campground we have got about 2 inches of snow with more on the way. The temp is -6'C. Our slide toppers are working well. We did find that the slideouts are not as airtight as led to believe. Around the bottom where the slide stops is a gap...

We picked up the 5er on the 14th of April with a friends truck as ours is not ready yet. Dragged it home & then went out with a friend to try to salvage some stuff from her flooded basement. There was 2 1/2 feet of water in the basement. The beds were floating, just so disheartening. Not much to save. Floods are considered an act of God & not covered by any insurance. The only hope she has is being declared an evacuee & she will get 80% of her cost to replace from the provincial government....

Temperatures are slowly warming up & the snow is slowly melting. We are still in for a flood around these parts. We have purchased a 2011 Chev deisel dually 1 ton auto from Murray Chev Olds here in town. We get our walk through of the trailer on Thursday. Not sure when we get the truck though. They need to put on the mud flaps, then we get a larger fuel tank installed. Cheerio

Well if this is spring I'll be doggonned...lol. Yesterday we had 6 inches of snow & one helluva winter storm system blow through. Today the sun is shining & the snow is melting. We were going to buy our truck today, however the salesperson was still away, so we wait another day or so. We are seriously looking at a dually deisel, quad cab chev. Not alot of bells & whistles, but who needs a backup camera, sunroof, curbside assisted parking...blah blah blah...the list goes on.......

We have officially moved out of the S&B. New owners took possession on Mar 15. What we could not take with us to the place we are staying at for the time being is in storage. I had a little cry about leaving the yard ( it has our blood, sweat & tears invested in landscaping). Will miss the hottub the most, however will have to make friends with someone who has one in their backyard..lol. We are celebrating a new beginning tonite with steak, baked taters, shrimp ring, salad, wine & the...
