Thanksgiving Day 2015

Posted 11-26-2015 at 06:51 AM by WH347

The motor home experience was a great one. We owned it for three years and logged 11,000 miles on her. In 2012 we left for Florida late due to a job i had taken at Home Depot. I left them in February and had to dig the MH out of 24 inches of snow in the yard. We left on a sunny but cold morning with a decent forecast. By the time we got to southern Indiana, we were in a blizzard!. Blowing and drifting snow -8 temps, trucks throwing slush on the windshield and the wipers wouldn't remove it and, of...

Memorial Day weekend -2012

Posted 05-29-2012 at 06:27 AM by WH347

Our maiden voyage was a great success. No insurmountable problems and despite the 93 degree heat over the weekend, all systems were operational and we have a great trial run. Here are the issues we did encounter.
1.) HOT water. this was somewhat a puzzle. Seems that the engineers at Winnebago decided to throw me a curve ball. Didn't know about the 'elusive' hidden WATER HEATER BYPASS valve.! It is necessary to bypass the water heater for winterizing and draining the water heater without it...

Well folks, We have had our motor home for 60 days now and I have 'messed' around with it nearly every weekend so far.
I replaced the 'boat anchor' 24 inch RCA tv in the front cabinet with a nice 26 inch wide screen Samsung LED. The 'really good work' was in modifying the cabinet for the new tv.
I bought a wall mount flat panel mount, (one of the staight mounts that hooks on top and then locks in on a bottom rail). I glued two foam blocks about 5 inches square to both sides of the mount....

Update # 3

Posted 04-02-2012 at 01:41 PM by WH347

Now that I have had a week to recover from the trip home with the RV, I have made a few adjustments like adding key locks to the Fuel door and the outdoor radio door. The cylinders were available at Lowes and one was just a little too long and I had to file the end down a little to engage the action limiter. Now both doors lock securly with a key.
I have a next door neighbor who has a 40 foot WINN and I drove the RV over to the street in front of his house and we went through all of the systems....

Made it back

Thanks to all of you who posted replies and read this thread. I made it to NEW YORK. Purchased the motor home and made the 14 hour trip 810 miles straight through with a friend. We encountered rain, fog, contruction and narrow lanes and $34 worth of tolls on the NY throughway. I was white knuckled at first as you would imagine but after the 100 miles of two lane highway along the scenic saint lawrence seaway made me a little at ease. Now we were also pullling a towed vehicle so that added to the...

Bill and Dick's Excellent Adventure

Posted 03-23-2012 at 06:36 AM by WH347

This is my first BLOG here in iRV2. This is the story of a man named Bill and his friend Dick.
Bill wanted a motor home all of his life. Now that he is in the year of his retirement, he has made the decision, despite $4 a gallon gas to pursue his dream and purchase a motor home.
The motor home found was an immaculate 2007 Winnebago Sightseer 29.6 ft. V10 gas. It has 8,700 miles on it and has been garage kept.
The problem is that it was 900 miles away. I made the deal with the...
