Stay tuned for what may be some comical entries!

I've always been told I should be a writer. Not that I think I'm good at it, all my family, friends, acquaintances and coworkers tell me I just have a way of telling a story.
Yes, I have been known to embellish things a bit, but without an apt description of events, it just wouldn't paint the picture in quite the light that it needs.

Many of our adventures.....wait, let me change that....Many of our misadventures start out with all the right intent, but somehow end up a WHOLE lot different than intended.
Being as my wife have a sense of humour, it helps get through most of the calamities that befall one who enjoys the RV Lifestyle.

9 Items or "Les"

9 Items or Less

One day, I was getting groceries to restock the RV and all the check outs were lined up 7 people deep.
So, I ventured to a different entry to the store only to find that they were all "Express" lines.

I looked up and saw "9 items or Less".

I looked down, rather forlornly, as I noted the heap of items in the basket.

I tried inconspicuously to pull the mass of condiments out of my carry all.
Like most people you think...."Ah, I'm only getting a couple of things" and before you know it, you're overflowing with all kinds of things you never really needed but had a craving for or found a sale on something.
You didn't need them, but hey....."I got them for 3 cents off, so I might as well buy 10!

In any event, as I'm unloading my items, I'm counting 14, 15, 16.... and as I look behind me, the line up suddenly had about 8 people in it.
They all had this look of disdain over the crowd of items I was placing on the carousel.
I could feel the daggers with each placement. There was whispering....Angst was building.

"Oh the leer" I was thinking to myself as I looked at the older lady directly behind me, trying desperately to hang on to her walker and her basket of 3 items.
I could read her mind and guilt was overshadowing my desire to simply get my shopping done and get out the door. This was getting VERY uncomfortable.

"I needed to think of something to save the day" I thought to myself as I fumbled through my wallet for my credit card.

Then, suddenly, as I looked up at the 9 items or less sign above me, I looked down and spotted my name on my card. "Eureka" I murmured to myself.
"My Aha Moment had arrived"!

In a matter of fact voice, I looked at the girl behind the till and said;

"Your sign says 9 items or Less.......I showed her my credit card and said;

"My name is Les".

The checkout girl, as well as the the whole line up of oldsters behind me, burst into cheer and laughter at my well timed irony.

I grabbed my bags of groceries and smiled all the way out of the store.

To this day, that story brings a chuckle every time I think of it and tell it.
