civil war battlefield tour

Left home on 12th June for a two onth tour of civil war battlefields with the dw and our 14 yr old grandaughter. So far a good trip except for one night at Camp Ocean Forest in Emerald Isle, NC. Grossly overpriced at $72 for a site in a white trash trailor park with rude people. Worst place I have ever seen.
On the way to Petersburg, VA I developed a really bad shimmy at 50 MPH. Turned out to broken radial belts in the left front tire. Tomorrow while we are on the trail of Lee's army to appamatox I will be getting two new front tires.
My blog on the trip is traveling with texas admiral..

I just love anything to do with the U.S. Civil War.
My mother was born and raised in Charleston S.C. where the first shots of the war began. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend you visit Fort Sumter in Charleston, the first battlefield of the Civil War.
Loved your Blog and photos too!Posted 07-25-2012 at 01:44 PM by goldpan -

I enjoyed reading your post and if interested in a Civil War FREE online book about the 6th New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry my GGrandfather fought with. The Book shows over a thousand names in the back by unit and list. Enlisted in Keene, NH, and discharged in Ohio. The book was used as official records of the battles, man, Officers and with much detail. Enjoy
