More rust on frame from double face tape

Posted 11-24-2015 at 11:11 AM by ladagobago

the rubber molding is snapped in place using the extruded plastic channel. the channel is held in place to the windshield frame with double faced adhesive tape. this tape forms an irregular bond which allow additional moisture to accumulate between the plastic clip and the poorly prepared steel frame which accelerates the rusting and pitting of the base steel frame eventually leading to pitting. See the video below. after removal of the extruded clip you can see the non-uniform bond of the tape and associated rust. I cleaned my surfaces and used a rust stop. Then used a very high contact spray adhesive to uniformly coat both the steel and plastic clip. it has perform well.
