I'm leaving 'civilization' for a time--I think. When I leave here today, I am headed to the Pacific Coast where I'll look for a good 'wilderness' campground. I may have to stay in an RV park for a night or two while I locate my 'spot.' The wilderness means that likely I won't be able to get on the internet for a while, and I do want to leave with a few thoughts while they are still fresh--and still with me.
This morning in my email, I received one of those ubiquitous emails...

The original "Adventures..." sort of fell by the wayside. I'm really wanting to get them in writing before the old mind completely loses them.
Our trip through Mexico continued south from San Carlos. I was amazed at the poverty in evidence all along the highway; the tiny towns we traveled through were heart-breaking. So many, many "houses" were simply pieces of corrugated tin and pieces of plywood leaning against each other, some with blankets draped over for...

Woohoo! I'm back in "civilization." Actually, that should read "un-civilization." I have spent so much time since the middle of May doing 14-day stints in our National Forests that it is becoming a way of life that I truly love. Am I at heart a hermit? Possibly.
The only fly in my ointment has been the inability to get on and stay on the internet long enough to post email and to blog. Getting connected to the internet is, at best, an 'iffy' thing when one is deep...

This being my first blog post, bear with me.
We've pulled the Yehti out early this year now having taken 4 trips within our home state of Colorado. DH & I are exploring a state we've lived in for more than 20 years.
Our first roll out was in early May to 11-mile reservoir ...it was a disaster! It rained from the moment we arrived to the moment we decided to bag it in 3 days later. The BUGS WERE BIG! Looked like overgrown mosquitoes! They were around by the thousands. The...

You know the old saying; it’s the Journey not the Destination.
There is a church two doors down from us. The church allows us to hook up our tow in their parking lot and we leave from there. It is quite convenient. When Diane and I have a trip it starts for us the moment we leave the church parking lot. Actually it starts the moment we start packing up the coach, no, it starts the moment we start thinking about THE TRIP.
The trip, made up of two important parts, the route, and the...

2. Keep your temper on a very short leash. Or, when owning a motor coach, patience is not only a virtue but a necessity.
If you are the type of person who always wants to be in control of your circumstances and are uncomfortable when things are not perfect or not even close to it, you will have trouble adjusting to the motor coaching lifestyle. Things are going to go wrong whether you are an old-timer or a newbie. There are preventive measures you can take, but only God can stop anything...

“What’s it like owning a 38 foot coach?”
I was asked that question just a few days ago. I had to stop and think for a minute or two.
I have always thought that having that big thing sitting in my driveway is nuts. It really is crazy. It cost too much to buy, to own, to keep on the road, and to pay the taxes that come along with it. It is insane to own it, but at the same time owing it keeps me sane. How can that be? Owning a coach, or any rv requires a certain mentality, a different...

My weather pro awning quit working and thank God that I read your forums that I better take a large strap wrench to help wind it up if it fails--well it did. To make a long story short I fixed the motor after reading another one of the forums on how to remove the motor. I found out that once you roll the awning up manually you twist the 12 volt wires and break them. I put a large cable tire to secure the awning and put two cable ties on the awnig arm to prevent the piston from pushing the arm...

;Sorry, got bumped off.
We left Nogales and crossed the border into Mexico. Getting into Mexico was a totally painless process. While at customs, I noted men in the parking lot selling "stuff."
One guy was selling fresh, homemade tamales, and I could not resist. Mexican food is one of my favorites.
I did think about the cleanliness and sanitation--or lack thereof--of his wife's kitchen, but pushed that little niggle out of the way. After all, I was...

It's hard to believe a whole week has passed since I last wrote. I've been busy working on my beading projects and sitting in the sun and walking with Gogo and all the myriad other things that seem to fill time. I love the Brit Com "Waiting for God." Sometimes, I feel that that is exactly what I am doing. Not sitting and waiting, mind you; waiting, nonetheless.
Well, back to "Adventures in Wanderland."
The week that we were to spend in Nogales...

Well we finally purchased our first Motorhome. What an adventure. We are learning a lot, some good, some a little discouraging. I thought I would join you to learn about this new adventure we have started on.
I hope to tap into your wisdom, as I have learned today that the reason our refrigerator doesn't work on gas is it has a defective valve that can cause it to burn up or explode. There is a recall, so at least it will be free to fix.
We purchased a 1987 Bounder. It is perfect...

According to Jean Cernan, The average cell phone has more technology than the Apollo capsule that flew to the moon and back. Now that said, I wonder if I can view that in comparison to our motorhome.
Paying attention to what's going on outside the front window while scanning the mirrors for what's on your six could be exhausting at the end of the day for a lot of drivers.
Now add a technology layer to driving and it isn't all that uncommon to have most or more of the...

Our motorhome is sitting out on the pad here at our home in Conway, SC and we are making preparations to get underway to Richmond, VA next weekend to attend the FMCA Great Eastern Area Rally. This will be our second visit to the Richmond International Speedway to support the GEAR and we expect to be in the same parking facility. Quite surprisingly we have a good 30A circuit, water, and a sewer connection on our site.
Last year we didn't bring our 08 Vue because we had basically...

I am so PISSED! After a really long blog, I hit 'Post Now' and everything disappeared.
This had started out as a quiet, peaceful Sunday. Just to thumb my nose at this computer, I am going to try to write it all again.
Last evening we had multiple thunderstorms pass over. At the end of one, I looked outside and saw an unbelievable sight, something I have never, ever seen before--a complete rainbow. It went from horizon to horizon and was easily one of the most...
