I always look forward to dewinterizing the trailer... it signals the beginning of camping season. But sometimes I find 'leftovers' from last years last hurrah and invariably, they are ugly leftovers. One year there was something left in the fridge, another year some laundry forgotten and left to fester in the bottom of a bin for 6 months.
This year was no exception; I found a little surprise left over in the bathroom. Gasp...
There it was lying in wait .......

The rain, tornadoes, and floods throughout the eastern half of the country the past few weeks, and especially this week, have really put a damper (no pun intended) on the early season camping plans for many RVers. It is just miserable out there. Here in the Boston area we are into our sixth straight day (Wednesday) of torrential rain and localized flooding and we may not see the sun again until Saturday. Maybe, just maybe, we can salvage the camping weekend and have some fun.
One of...

Our big quad slide 5er sits in one place, near the grandkids, most of the time. Also near the Union Hall that comes up with the jobs DH goes out on. We don't choose to spend so much time here in our little woods--it was more fun riding around with the dogs, in our custom, yellow, rv hauler and being followed by our 5er! But for 3 more years, this seems to be the logical place to park it. It's hardly alone here! There's a small cargo trailer, a one ton pu with a huge S & S slide-in, a small...

After our Easter weekend trip we were all set to take the RV back for the final pre-delivery item repairs (a month after delivery). We were going to be going on a RV-less week long vacation which was planned prior to the MH acquisition, so it would be a perfect time to be without it. Then on 4/27 northern AL as a whole was altered. 300+ tornado's descended on the state, a handful being F4-F5 monsters. We were spared damage, however, our whole county was without power for a week. Huntsville...

My Love of Dirt Roads
Looking back at my RV travels it seems that I have always been looking for that off the beaten track experience. Wanting to fish those lakes that few other people dared to explore.
The ones that were only fished by the hardy and fearful (stupid)
Well that meant those lakes that were only accessible by the dirt road.
The further off the road the better. That meant that the fish had to be bigger and more of them. Sometimes that was true other...

I originally wrote this article in 2008. I am placing it here in my Blog because I believe that it might give someone the confidence to do the installation on their own regardless of which vehicle they own. The differences between this what is seen in this article and your install will only vary slightly.
2008 Saturn Vue XE - SMI Stay-In-Play DUO Installation
Finally getting around to installing my SMI DUO. So far everything is going well.
I started off...

I wrote this piece in 2009 however I wanted to place a copy here since it's falling deep in the threads in it's original location. I hope it'll provide some value to you if you own a 2001 to 2004 Workhorse with an Allison transmission.
Ultrapower Allison 1000 Grade Brake (UAGB) Installation 101
A couple of days ago I was interrupted from my daily activity, posting here, as the door bell sounded. Roxy took off across the house barking as loudly and repetitively as possible...

I just wanted to put something up real quick about what changed around these here parts as applies to DirecTV. In the past in order for us to get local programming we had to use 2 dishes, an 18” single LNB for local channels (non HD) and an elliptical dish with 3 LNBs (HD). Quite a sight to say the least as this array looks like a CIA ground station.
Previous setup has a Slimline (HD) and an 18"...

We have found out today that all the information that Brandon has been getting from Saskatchewan on water levels is false. They are now saying there is more water than what they are prepared for. The city is now scrambling to shore up the dikes surrounding the flood plain & lotsa people are on standby for evacuation. Businesses are being warned that they should remove things off the floor. Dealerships should remove inventory to higher ground. We are sure glad that our trailer is on very high...

If you are like many campers, the first thing you want to see in the morning is a fresh, hot, and delicious cup of coffee. I certainly am in that group of happy campers, and it's usually more than one as the sun comes up over the horizon.
After contemplating the purchase for a few years, we finally took the plunge and bought ourselves a Keurig single-cup coffee system. This is not a commercial for Keurig, it is just an enthusiastic endorsement of this system as one of the most convenient...

Well as I write this we are under a winter storm warning. It is the end of April in Southwestern Manitoba & we are also in a flood watch for the whole southwestern part of Manitoba. Geez, only in Manitoba. We were wearing shorts on the 27th. So far in our campground we have got about 2 inches of snow with more on the way. The temp is -6'C. Our slide toppers are working well. We did find that the slideouts are not as airtight as led to believe. Around the bottom where the slide stops is a gap...

Introducing the JACK Digital HDTV Antenna by King Controls.
Digital TV has been rolled out now for a couple of years however older RVs I expect are just catching up with the technology curve since the majority of those don’t have DTV ready equipment or suitable antennas. I purchased 2 Magnavox DTV boxes which I setup in our rig at least a year ago however our use of over the air TV was a best...
