I know this issue has popped up several times in the past. We have a 2005 Newmar Mountain Aire sitting on a W-24 (2004) chassis. In the last few months it has developed a very loud popping noise or thump on the right front. You can even feel it on the drivers floor when it happens. It only happens going very slow and turning either direction and going over a dip or drive way area. We had Torklift in Seattle tighten and torque the front spring shackels and bolts in this are and do a really good inspection of shocks, supension etc with no help. After I read a previous thread one case suggested bad weld points where the chassis attaches to the W-24. Just forward of the tire ( outside of the shackel is a welded area. On the right side the whole area is rusted but on the left is nicely painted and good weld bead. I don't see a crack but as it was explained it would be hard to see.

Any thoughts or advice??

The VMSpc looks like it would be a nice addition to our coach. I don't mind shelling out cash for any worthwhile product but can someone tell me what magic the JIB does that makes it almost $400? Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to berate Silverleaf or make them out to be bandits, it just seems to be a lot of money for a cord with a circuit board. I also realize they don't pump out hundreds of thousands from factory in China due to a small amount of customers.

First task will be to dig out the connector from under the dash or where ever it may be hiding.

Greetings. I've been riding for 40 of my 49 years, and recently inherited the RV in my avatar. It's main use will be to get me, the wife, and the bike out of Wisconsin for a week or 2 at a time, as often as possible, during these brutal Wisconsin winters. Ideally, we'll get out for a week in November, one in December, one in January, and one in February. We'll see how that plays out...

The bike is a '99 Ultra Classic with just under 100k miles on the bottom end of the motor & transmission. Everything else has been replaced or modified over the years. I do all my own work, and enjoy it almost as much as riding. This past winter, I taught myself how to paint with much help from a custom painter friend on another forum, and painted the old girl. It was quite harrowing, but very rewarding in the end.

I'm going to have all kinds of questions for you guys. I know nothing about RVing, much less RVing with the bike in tow. I may not be the smartest guy out there, but I am just smart enough to try and learn from your experiences.

The wife and I are both pretty excited about this. We've wanted to do some "winter touring" for a while now, and it looks like we'll finally be able to. Thanks in advance for all the help, and here's a pic of "Beula Mae" (that's the bike's name... the wife's name is Patti).

I just finished installing ceramic tile in our 4320 DS in place of the carpeting in the front. Upon removing the carpet I found that the factory installed tile in front of the sink/stove and top of entry steps was installed over 3/8 plywood layed over the coach floor. I figured this was to make the factory ceramic floor and the carpeting the same heighth. So, I went and installed a 3/8 plywood sub floor and on top layed my new ceramic tile. Now I have a real problem with both the slides. The passenger side slide is really scuffing over the new ceramic, both coming in and going out. The driver's side flat floor slide is having a real problem lifting to come in. Before I tore the carpeting out I looked under both slides and the rollers were not in contact with the old carpeting. And there was no indication in the carpeting that they were rolling on the carpeting. I remember that there was something about changing the rollers on the slides. Is that possible without taking the slide out? Or would anyone know the fix? I've been trying to get ahold of Newmar but the 800 number tells me to call back later. Boy, any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi all - I have been participating on this forum for the past 4 months or so and one fact that is clear is that most posts are made by diesel coach owners. This might be for several reasons - either there are a lot more Newmar diesel owners than gassers, diesel owners are more willing to share their expertise, or diesels as a category have more problems than gassers and more diesel owners gravitate to a forum since their rigs are more complex.

Just wondering: What % diesel vs gas does Newmar sell & do diesel coaches have more inherent problems because or their complexity?
