Journey Porch Handle
New to us 04 Journey. Has a clear porch handle. Is it supposed to be lit when the porch light is on?

No, in the 2004 models only the Vectra and Horizon had lighted handles. Some have added them, there are a few threads on how to do it.

Mine has a switch for handle and one for porch light, I would look for another switch.

RandyPatty,
As has been stated, ONLY the Vectra (Winnebago) and Horizon (Itasca) we’re equipped with lighted door handles. There is NO OTHER SWITCH. Now, if you’d like to make yours light up, for the most part, it’s pre easy to do so. The toughest part will be running the wire. Your switch bank next to the co-pilots leg will provide the power for it. You can set it up independently or, to be activated by turning on the porch light. The handles come apart fairly easily. I tool mine apart and removed the blown white light and installed a RED LED light in it. It looks cool. Next time it might be yellow or, green, who knows? It’ll depend on the mood I’m in at the time.
Anyway, it’s fair easy to construct an LED module that fits inside that handle. Good luck and have fun.
Scotty

Rather than deciding what color, I installed a very slow changing RGB LED in the handle. Very subtle and pretty cool. Definitely unique..

Ok Jeff,
What's it gonna take for me to bribe you on the part number, place of procurement etc. on that color changing door handle light?

Remove the bottom chrome mount, the clear plastic will come off to reveal what is inside the top mount. If it has a light you will see the wiring in the top mount. Mine has a chain of lights from top to bottom in the plastic tube, some had one light in the top mount shining downward, don't know what year though.

I forgot to say, my OEM handle light is controlled by porch light switch. If you need to wire your MH for a lighted handle, that may be the most convenient source.

Send me a PM and Ill drop one in an envelope. I asses a semi-concealed switch and matching RGB light in the coach as well since it cant be seen during the day.. i thought about running it on the porch light but decided i might want to run it all night without the porch

Color-changing 12V strip lighting is widely available. A local source for me is Menards big box store.
