I am looking at a '10 Journey Express 34Y to replace my '08 Gulf Stream SuperNova on an International class 6 truck chassis.

I got to test drive one yesterday and was underwhelmed to say the least. I really want to love this coach because wife and I like to layout and amenities.

On my test drive, I found the coach tended to wander a bit on the freeway and in crosswinds. I found the engine to be a bit weak but realize it is a brand new diesel and needs some miles to break in. Most of all, the squeaks and rattles in this new coach were terrible. All these conditions are contrary to my current coach.

Can any of you Winnebago and especially Journey Express owners tell me if these conditions are common? Also, are there any other surprises good or bad I need to know about this model or the company in general that would help me make an expensive decision easier?

I love the layout too. Check out the 09 instead. I think for 2010 they went with a low budget chassis and engine.

We have the 09 and we love it. I agree that they lowered the pricepoint on the 2010 and cheaped out!

Texas TC, What you are doing has been repeated before by one of our very good friends. Bill Rowell our iRV2 founder moved from his dream truck to a Vectra and has never looked back! His impressions were that he moved from a Spartanesque interior and performance to a vehicle that restored the "recreation" part of the his RV'ing experience.

We were set on the '09, but the '10 is on a lighter chassis and the transmission is also lighter. They even took out the drinking water filter to lower the price. So we went with the Journey 40L. It cost more but is on the Magnum Chassis and has nicer features. We like the 34Y as a 40 footer in a 35' body!
