We have several things that employ a 12V outlet, e.g. GPS, Brake Buddy, telephone charger, etc. How can I multiply the number of outlets in the cockpit area? Recommended brands?

There are several methods, some work better than others.. Many companies sell multiple 12 volt outlet adapters. These may be one piece plastic, 2 piece or a mountable block with 2,3,4,5,6 outlets and a short cord.. Generally I'm never pleased with them but that said, I have several. Mostly "Splitters" (2 outlets, one plug) The sockets (outlets) do not hold the plugs well is my major complaint.

You could wire in additional outlets.. Same issue since they are the same type of outlet as a rule.

You could wire in an anderson power pole cord, a "Rig-Runner" from West Mountain Radio, and multiple outlets.. off the rig-runner.. This gives each outlet it's own fuse (Better) but you still have the outlet does not hold the plug well problem.. HOWEVER.

Since these outlets are all on the end of a cord, you can tape, or otherwise "tie" the plug in the socket.

Most any auto parts place has extentions with multiple plug ins for your devices----not sure there is a huge difference in quality they are pretty low tech. Plug and go.

Someone may trump my reply knowing of something fancier but:

I grew tired of all the wires and cords hanging there from multiple appliances. I ran a wire from a hot source to a fuse block and hard wired most of those things behind the dash---so now I have a clean looking situation with all the "toys" mounted in convenient places rather than clustered near a 12v appliance. Room for more!!!!!

Many devices come with sufficient cords to accomplish this and still use the device in another vehicle---if not then you can order them usually or use something generic.

Only problem I experienced was the fuse block I installed was down under my steering wheel against the firewall------and after worming my way in, way in-----I could not get out---toooooooo fat. Well we avoided a call to 911 by slowly but surely worming my way back out----

Be careful it's a jungle out there----good luck with your upgrade.
