1988 Minni Winnie Winnebago Questions

I hope that I am in the correct place so I can ask these questions? How do I replace a fuel pump that is located inside the fuel tank on a 1988 Minni Winnie Winnebago? The 350 ford econoline runs when gas is poured in the carb. Just not getting the gas from the fuel pump.

In as much as no one else has given this a shot I will give it a go.

Pump in the tank has been a PITA for a long time. When fuel gets low pump heats up the problem starts or some times it is just a bad pump. Before you start pull a gas line between the tank and your in line filter and see if you get a flow if not, the pump is bad.

In order to get to the tank you need to drop it down and access it through the top. Miserable job especially if you need to drain off a lot of gas. Have heard of people putting in an electric external pump, which would be much easier, don't know for sure so get an expert opinion.

Thumbs up 1988 Minni Winne

Grimesy:
Many thanks for your advice. I may have a chance to buy this Minni as it is.
This 1988 has been sitting under a shelter for 8 years now. The owner tells me that he had the engine running several months ago by pouring gas in the carb. He also tells me that his son the mechanic who is in Ohio is suppose to be here this summer to remove the fuel pump and install another one that is if he can find a replacement.

So where can I buy a replacement fuel pump for it. I seriously like your suggestion of buying and electric fuel pump. Do I just leave the old fuel pump in the tank? Cut and crimp the line outside the tank that goes to the engine?

Many thanks
Rodney

Unless the price is really right buying a sitter can be an expensive proposition. New tires for sure, do all of the appliances work, water in the brake lines, dry rot, delamination and on and on.

As I said get an "Expert" opinion on the fuel pump.

Often times even new rigs have tons of problems.

1988 Minni Winnie

Grimesy: You have been a big help on this subject of buying the 1988 Minni Winnie. I didn't see any signs of leaks or delamination any where. The owner tells me that all appliances work. So if he calls me with a buy price I will ask him to demonstarte that they all work.
Any things I should be checking out closely?
