2 step electric steps

2003 Winnebago Adventurer 35U. Is there an adjustment for the steps not retracting fully? Does not quite go up all the way.

There's no stopping points to set. The steps stop retracting when the motor resistance - or the amp draw - gets too great.

So, if it is well lubed, and mechanically operational - not bent or something - the steps will go all the way in.

Good luck

Would a motor replacement be a possible fix?

The steps receive CONSTANT POWER!

Before you begin throwing money at the problem, and

If your steps are Kwikee brand:
The Kwikee Service Training manual has all the information about the steps. They do have cam stops to adjust where they stop, but the controller causes motor amp resistance to turn of power to the motor instead of a standard switch. From an old irv2.com thread about Kwikee step motors this was an alternate replacement for the OEM motor: https://www.carid.com/dorman/oe-solu...n-742-277.html

The first thing I would do is take off the electric motor. That will allow the step to be extended and retracted by hand. You can then tell if it is hanging up somewhere, or needs lube, or gets stiff to operate near the fully retracted position.

Usually if the motor is running at all, the motor is good. Maybe the connections are corroded, or just marginal enough to cause an amp draw near the end of the cycle.

If the steps work great by hand, then something is causing an amp draw or resistance to the motor, which the controller senses.

Anyways, it works the same as a power window on a car.

In fact, IIRC, the motor is a window motor from older Fords as a direct replacement, so look into that as the ones from NAPA are like $30 instead of $150. If it comes to that.

best of luck!
