2000 Adventurer Slide Out Weather Stripping

Hi all. Last October when winterizing I ran the slide out and about 4 feet of the weather strip came detached right behind the driver's seat from the top. Couldn't get it back in as I have to feed some back on the track then move the slide in a bit and the button is too far away.

Going to be a 2 person job. Has anyone else ever had this problem and were you able to make a permanent repair or will I need to replace the whole strip? Do I need to remove the slide for this?
