2000 Horizon had anyone replaced evaporator coil?

Does it come out thru the dash or front end of coach?

Thank you,

Bryan

From what i understand, it comes out from the front and the only way to get it out is to remove the lower front cap entirely. Someone on the forum documented this procedure before.

You are correct, the front cap has to be removed and out there somewhere is a great write up with pictures on how to do the job....I had my local RV repair shop do it only took him about 3 hours. Good luck.

Unfortunately the evaporator coil comes out from the front. The evaporator coil resides in the same black plastic box as the heater core. The lower front cap must be removed to access the black plastic box. Battchief wrote an excellent and accurate article on removal of the lower front cap to access the heater core on a 2001 Horizon. He identifies where all the screws are located. Here is the link to his article.

I am currently in the finishing stages of replacing the heater core. I deviated from battchief's instructions and removed the lower front cap completely as I wanted space to work. In my case the windshield washer container was attached to the frame. All electrical wires had plastic connectors. My wife assisted for about five minutes to help balance the front cap while I dropped one side at a time to a 5 gal container then to the ground. The job sounds difficult probably because the cap is so large. You might consider spending $200 and replacing the heater core while the cap is off.
