Hello Everyone, Brand new members here saying hello and posting my first question. We just picked up a 2001 Itasca Horizon two weekends ago and I have been doing some little work on it, cleaning up etc. Yesterday I drove it to the storage center and noticed a loud sound coming from the driver’s side dash. The sound was if I had the window open and could really hear the engine/exhaust. There is a “vent” like opening on the left side of the driver’s dash which points to the side window. Not sure what it’s purpose is but it sounded like the noise was coming from there…..almost like something was removed from the inside or a piece of installation fell off. I didn’t have time to really look into it. Thanks in advance for your help.

I think you may have the volume turned up on your backup monitor. Unless you want to listen to the engine, that really needs to be turned down all the way.

I honestly can't remember if I had the camera on. I think I did. If that was the issue, I will feel like a complete fool

. But being a newbie I guess I get to ask a few dumb questons. lol. .. I'll be bringing it home again in four days....cross my fingers that's it. Thanks.

Thats gotta be it. The speaker is on the left side of the dash. The other thing I had on my 2002 Journey was the wiper motor static came through the speaker one time. I flipped the speaker switch for the radio and it stopped. Do the same thing if you get a ticking sound in the surround speakers. It seems to be a common glitch without causing any harm.

Don't feel bad. The rear camera microphone on a DP is about as useless as.... well, it's useless. It sounds just as you describe if the volume is turned up.

Another sound that can come from that area is more of a growling and can be caused by a leak in the vacuum pump that drives the dash heat/ac controls.
