2002 adventure basement a/c

The breaker trips on my basement unit on A/C or Heat The thermostat and inside fan works ok Any ideas where to start looking will be appreciated

You should have two breakers for the unit, try turning off the #2 compressor breaker. If the unit then runs, the #2 compressor is bad and it would be fine to run for a while with only one. If not then the unit may need to be checked by a professional unless you are proficient with electrical test equipment and tools.

Having worked on the basement A/C I would start by looking inside the A/C electronics panel for something obvious like something burnt. the panel is outside the coach at the left end of the condenser coil. Lift the coach body door for access to the panel cover. While you are poking around in there turn off the A/C breakers........there are two of them.

While you are in the elec. panel, look for corroded or burnt wires. Often, when at RV parks with marginal power, the unit will work but run hot and start fraying wires. Just look where they connect and follow them back to the insulation on them, that is where you will likely see it.

the #1 system must run before the #2 system will start. if you turn off the #2 system cb and the #1 system works you may have a bad relay or starting capacitor on the #2 system.
if the #1 system will not operate isolated, turn off both cb's.
then move the wiring from the #2 starting capacitor and relay to the #1 system. in this mode, the #2 system should run with the #1 cb turned on. when operating in this mode, there will be no freeze protection when operating the heat pump.

there are indicator lights that flash to help in trouble shooting on the ac panel. do a forum search for info on this.
on my moho, the ac grill is held down with one screw inside the propane compartment and one screw on the aft end of the grill. remove the screws and the grill hinges up.

Is it the number 1 compressor circuit breaker which is popping?

I agree with looking for burnt connections. Especially the compressor start capacitors and PTSC attached to the start capacitor. Normally though, if this is bad the compressor internal overload will trip.

Next I would look at the outdoor blower motor.

Thanks everyone for the help, I suspect the out door motor After checking everything you folks suggested. Today I will pull the unit to check the motor

the outdoor motor also has a start cap. on it
