I read some older posts on this topic. Could anyone help with these questions?
1. What if I don't repair it and don't use dash heat or ac?
2. Is the ac related to the heater core?

I don't seem to lose antifreeze when I don't run the dash heat/ac.

Chances are you have a valve that opens when you operate the heat letting the coolant into the heater core. Typically you don't have to repair it, but you must bypass the leak somehow.
As far as the AC is concerned, it won't have any effect on it since it's a totally different system. If you don't want to fix it, bypass the core.
