They are part of the surround sound system.

I believe they only work when the surround sound is on (tv/radio switch to tv).

I never really paid attention to them before, but in reading this post I got down and put my ear to the speaker under the fridge and wow! noise coming from it. I'm watching TV with the tv/radio switch on TV. Thanks for asking that question. I have a 2003 Journey DL 36GD.

Maybe this is a good place to ask this question. The tv/radio switch has 2 wires on it. This means there has to be a relay or something somewhere. Can anyone enlighten me on how this works and where it may be.

Wizard, I am guessing at the amp located (on my Meridian) left of the brake on the floor, behind a metal panel covered by carpet. Not sure though. I wish the switch was located by the drivers seat, if I forget to turn it back when we take off from a stay, I can't listen to the radio without getting back up to the vcr cabinet above the passenger seat. So if you find where the wires go, let me know and maybe I can move it.
Good luck.

If you take the panel off above the surround sound/ house stereo shelf, you will find a relay stuffed in there. One day I'll turn that into a 3-way and add another next to the driver so when I forget to move it I won;t have to pull over and change it.
Yes, those are woofers that have a pretty deep rolloff (don't know where, but it's below 100Hz), so you will hear very little coming from them, but you will feel it. This is the house stereo, not JUST the surround.
