I've seen a few posts on Journey air bags, but I haven't found the exact answer I'm looking for, so here goes. Please excuse any redundancy with other posts.

We just traded (with my in-laws) for a 2002 Journey DL 40QD, which we absolutely love. While on the way home, we had a blowout on the right rear. While on the side of the road, all air bags were inflated. I made sure because the tires shredded and I was able to see that the right rear airbag was still inflated. What a relief!! It seemed there was no major damage - just the foot plate from the right rear jack had been pulled of and one of the springs stretched beyond use and the mud flap gone.

We got the tires changed and we headed off with no other problems. A couple of days later, I brought the coach to a local RV service center that I've used before so they could fix the jack. They did that fairly easily. Before I brought it in to fix the jack, I had not used the jacks to level (since one was broken), so the airbags were not deflated, and the coach was level. I imagine the sevice center put the jacks down to make sure they worked. Now the problem is that the right rear air bag will not inflate. All of the others look fine. I've tried pressing the store button on the jacks, putting the coach in drive, etc. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas???

Hi Cajin,

All I could think of is the air bag control valve on that side. See if it was damaged when the tire blew or maybe the linkage got knocked off. Seems like no linkage would allow the valve to go neutral so that the air that was in the bag, stayed in the bag and once the bag was dumped, then it wouldn’t re-inflate.

MrTrans,

That's exactly what the problem is. I called Freightliner, and they lead me right to it. The "arm" that opens the valve was broken off when the tire blew. I have one on order now, and I'll bring the MH in tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply.
