While I do not have an immediate problem, I would like to know how to manually retract the large Living Room Slide on my MH.

Both "ichn2go" and "tomsm" have been kind enough to forward pages from their manuals, a 2003 Horizon 39QD and a 2004 Journey 39K, that show a "crank-in bolt" on the outboard mounting plates - mine does not have the "crank-in bolts".

My 2002 manual does not address a "flat floor slideout" and my used MH did not come with a winch and I can not find an attachment point, because when it is out, it is even with the floor.

Before I call WGO, does anyone with a 2002 39QD or similiar slide have any ideas ?

ON EDIT- The 36GD floorplan for the large slide looks the same.

Hi El Jeffe,

We've got the 36G with flush floor slideout so the manual retract procedure may be the same. If you've got the manual, you know how to release the hydraulic valves.

Our rig did come with a winch which is attached to a flat plate with a U shaped bracket on the bottom of it. We lift out the heating register in the floor which is closest to the center of the slideout. The flat plate attached to the winch rests flat on the floor and the U bracket drops down into the opening where the register was. Basically the U shaped portion hooks over the floor. Since the floor looks like doubled 5/8 or 11/16 plywood it looks like a solid mounting point.

The winch cable is pulled out and hooks to a strap underneath the sofa. If you look under the sofa, you'll see all the seatbelts and another strap that looks similiar to a seatbelt strap except it only has a loop sewn in the end. The slide pull in strap should be at the dinette end of the sofa and so be roughly centered in the slide.

I havn't done it yet, and hope I never do, but it looks simple to hook the winch to the slide and crank it in. According the the instructions, they claim you should crank slowly so the hydraulic fluid can flow to the resoivoir and the crank should be fairly easy to turn.

Joe, Thanks - that's what it looks like in the manual. Problem is, I didn't get a winch with the MH as a bought it used and the prior owner said it didn't have one ??? So hope against hope was that there was a manual screw system like in 2003 and up.

Just don't look to be so. I'll look under the sofa for the loop and if it's there, I'll order a winch.

Thanks

Larry
